ok let get something straight here. First of all the phantasm 4 ending was not a foreclosure to all the movies not only does the Tall Man take the ball from mikes head and in everyone of the movies there was always a part that was missing that they covered in the next one. see we dont know what the tall man had in mind with the mike character besides he had one of the spheres in his head. but then he also dreams again. reggie goes after the tall man. it all ends with reggie dreaming of the old times . so with this big ass opening of suspense for the next one they need to make another oneto see if reggie can stop tall man if he even can

Hi, new to the board...and i need to put in my 2 cents on this. Personally, I'd love to see V get made and even if they "slaughter" it, I'll bet everything I own it'll still be better than most of the horror garbage comming out nowdays. Put an evil mortician with a lazy eye and a few killing christmas ornaments in a movie, I'm a happy guy! But yeah, another Phantasm would be great since about the only thing to look foward to for horror movies in the next few years are a slew of remakes. The Evil Dead, Rosemary's Baby, A Nightmare on Elm Street....even Child's Play, for chrissake! Eh, while remakes of these films can be interesting, they're not new concepts.
Not really horror related, but X-Files 2 comes out in a few months. Woo hoo!

Weren't as good as parts 1 and 2 (Well, some would argue not part 1 anyhow), but they still managed to be better than the vast majority of movies Scifi comes out with . Makes you glad it's the Lost Boys 2, coming out, not just "The Lost Boys" XD.

Agreed, Briggs. And funny you mention Lost Boys 2. Just seen the trailer for that the other day and it actually doesn't look half bad!

^ i am surprised it took this long for any movie company to do a part 2. with so many movies having sequels, The Lost Boys seemed to be forgotten for some time.

I'm torn. I say if their going to make another one, do it while Angus is still alive. I mean everyone is getting much older, the more time that passes, the less chance we're going to get to see another sequel. It's been ten years all ready...clock is ticking. I really don't know. I thought part IV ended perfectly. Tied in very well and had a beautiful yet haunting last scene. But there's still alot of unanswered questions (such as how did the sphere get in Mike's head? Did Mike die? Will be become the next Tall Man? Was it all a dream? ect) I do think if there will be one last film, it should be Mike turning into the next Tall Man and Reggie having to go against his friend. I guess we'll see

To be honest we need Phan 5 to happen or else some devious tinseltown exec may get there hands on the IP and remake the first one with members of the cast of high school musical and lets say Sean Bean as the Tall Man......
Can you imagine the musical numbers.
Tim Rice and Elton John's "Can you hear the spheres tonight"
The obligatory Hip Hop outro by Soulja Boi who would no doubt have to be crowbarred into the film. "Rolling with the dwarves with my low ride hearse"
Directed by lets see Ewe Boll he would make a good job.
And they could hire assasins to kill Don Coscarelli so that the entire film could be powered by placing his coffin in a giant electromagnet the spinning would power at least seven sequels!
As this is probably my third post an explanation, I have had about three hours sleep after running an all night horror marathon and my brain is a little wibbly

I've been thinking of this since the con this past weekend. The only reason I would want a P5 is to see the players reprise their role once more. I think Oblivion ends the series perfectly, it's a nice symphony. I really think that everyone has moved on to other things. Angus is making films left and right. Reg is making films left and right. AMB is teaching and producing a doc. Don has projects coming out of his ears. I suppose it's just time to move on.

While Oblivion does indeed end the series very nicely, I still think that there's another story to tell which would conclude things even nicer. Obviously there is, otherwise Don and the cast wouldn't have had that cast reading. Something was obviously good enough to warrant all the trouble of collecting everyone and spending time and money filming the reading.
While deep down in my heart I know I'll never get to see another Phantasm come to fruition, I still cling to the particle of hope that maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I know I won't see another Phantasm, but there is still that one tiny little part of me not letting go of the possibility that something will or could sprout up. Hey, it could happen.

I really wanted a P5 for years but as the years continue to grow between entries, I am happy with how P4 ended. I think the series should end in mystery and 4 did just that. Angus has aged a lot in 15 years and I can see why he even wants his run as the Tall Man to end at 4.
I think a new Phantasm series is the way to go.
