I got this info from Flashback Weekend 2008, If you attended you should know all of this by now...The cast would like to do another Phantasm film but they cannot get it financed for the money they need...Don said as the roman numerals get higher the budget gets lower....it was cool anyways, I got 25minutes of them all on video (the entire cast)!!

Hey there! Welcome to Phantasm Community! I was at Flashback as well, and I heard what you're speaking about. While it's not really "new info", it was cool to see Don and the cast discuss it nonetheless.

Any proof? Last thing we heard, Anchor Bay/Starz was willing to put forth the funding, do they just not have enough? Can you upload the video?

Well, he isn't lying. Don did say those things (Dustin and myself were both present). As far as specifics regarding Anchor Bay, nothing was spoken of or mentioned at the convention.

it seems like Lion Gates should pick up the franchise??? Oh please God no... What they did to Chucky would not work for the tall man... they'd probably replace Michael and Bill by emo 20-years-olds and have Reg played by Pete Postelthwait or someone really strung-out looking... or just replace him with another emo 20-years-old... Then they'd add some strong female lead and turn the tall man into a generic demon, and so on and so forth...

Lionsgate would probably try to turn Phantasm V into a Saw-like film. If that were to happen, I'd be hesitant towards watching it.

I think Rouge pictures did that Chucky crap...not Lion Gates....I agree with you that they may turn it into garbage, all I'm saying is that lately it seems like Lion Gates is trying to be like Anchor Bay with releasing as much as they can...Lion Gates to me release some movies I would never watch but they do get good budgets. But if lets say Warner Bros. releases it, we would get no special features at all on the dvd (thats why I hate WB

For some reason this came to mind today. Who payed for the cast reading? All of the camera's, special effects and catering couldn't have been out of Don's pocket. Maybe if P5 is never made Don will put the footage out some way, through phantasm.com perhaps?

It just really blows my mind that total garbage movies can get big funding and tank at the box office and studios will continue to pump money into projects like those. Yet Don can't get the funding to make a Phantasm V which is a proven series. It just really makes no sense to me at all. Also it's not like Don needs a huge budget or anything the man is a master of workin with a small budget and getting the best quality out of it.

That's because they've got a proven market, idiots 11-18, the same market most studios want to grasp these days. The "nostaligiacs" market is frequently overlooked because they're not "cool enough"

They are only exposed to the movies being made now. They're like, "If it's not HD, high-tech, stupid, or in colour, then it's not for me." They are not exposed to what films are really about. They don't care for the great black and white films. They don't appreciate them. And by Jove I'm glad, being 17, I'm not one of them. And I know it's not everyone. Just the majority.

I always think about that, how do some of these cheap poorly executed movies being made now get a budget!!!??...

I was at Flashback Weekend also last weekend and got to listen to the Q and A session. It was saddening to hear Don's news about the film and now all I can hear is that play like a broken record in my head. That was the saddest thing of the whole weekend other than that it was a lot of fun. ;D PhantasmPhan P.S. Warmest welcome to the community The Tall Man!
