Hi! My real name is Ryan and I am 16 and since it's a couple of days after my girlfriends favorite holiday and it was late night...I figured I would read about one of my all time favorite movies; Phantasm. I found this site and I figured I would tell you my opinion on this movie. I think I first saw it when I was 3 or so when my Father watched it in front of me and I cowered behind a couch. Now I try to watch it at least once a year. This movie always had a place in my heart and I will never forget it. Absolutely my favorite Horror movie. Ever. No sadly I did not watch it on Halloween because my open-minded girlfriend who lives 400 miles away might come up to see me on Thanksgiving and she loves Horror movies. She has never heard of this move before (I know...) so I can't wait for a few things...to show her my favorite Horror movie, to scare the daylights out of her, and to make this her favorite Horror movie too. Although recently I have played the Doom 3 Phantasm mod. LOVED IT!!! If she doesn't come up here to see me then I will try to see her and maybe show her there...but my dad and I have always loved to show people this movie, no one ever had anything bad to say about Phantasm. But they were creeped out! I can never get the theme out of my head. So thanks a lot for reading and I am looking forward to the Blu-ray release! I will let you guys know how she likes it!

Welcome Ryan! Step right in to our mausoleum! If you're ever in the Los Angeles area, let me know, and I'll give you a tour of the Phantasm shooting locations.

Bumping this thread because...
Tonight at 9 PM PST (12 AM EST) is my 31st anniversary of seeing "Phantasm" on the big screen back in New Jersey when I was just 14. It's one of those dates that I'll probably never forget. Very proud.
I snuck into the theatre with my dad. Never dreamed a movie would change the course of my life so much! Very proud. Rich in memories (not finances). And friends too. It's a blessing to know each and every one of you.

I was thinking the same thing. After the first time I saw PI in 79 I was HOOKED. I went to see it over & over & over. I burned all my friends out on it, all my girlfriends out on it and then Id go and see it all by myself over & over & over again. I sat in my 'Cuda at the Drive In and got High, high , HIGH watching Reg & Co. battle the Tall Man allll night long.

I know who I saw Phantasm with, but can't remember where...Of course, I have introduced Phantasm to many people over the years as well. Most get it and like it. Some...well, its just not their cup of tea. (shrug)
But for those of us that do, I used to rent the movies at the local video store and go over to my friends house all the time!

I remember exactly where I saw it for the first time, at the Valley Drive-in in Oceanside, CA. But I can't remember the exact date, sometime in March of 79. And I remember one of my many viewings at the drive-in taking my cassette tape recorder and setting up a mic next to the car door speaker and recording the whole movie's audio to enjoy at home!

Oh man, that is too funny. I remember setting up the tape recorder by the TV for the Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park movie because we didn't have VCR's back then
