I saw Phantasm II on VHS LONG before I found and watched a copy of the first film on DVD. Thus I ended up seeing the 2nd and 3rd films long before I saw the first and forth.
So, Phantasm 2 has a special place in my childhood because I saw it first and -- even after seeing the others -- can still appreciate its ability to pick up were the first one ended and improve upon the first film [in terms of story], in no small part due to the increased budget. Although I was not thrilled about the casting changes....
The first and 4th Phantasm films are probably my least favorite.

Howdy TOM = If memory serves, there is a thread somewhere around here where we all discuss what everyone's favorite film of the series is (I'm too lazy at the moment to dig for it). And in response to your comment, I had just recently watched 3 & 4 again and I believe that the order of my preference still has not changed. 2, 1, 3 & 4. (I did see them in order, and I think I was 15 when P-I came out.)The casting changes in P-II have long been a topic of conversation here. And from what I remember it was the decision of the studio (not Coscarelli's) to change the cast, and so, we've been given what we have and although it is always considered nice to keep the continuity, I believe the general consensus seems to be is "it is what it is" (Eeek...I sound like someone from the Marketing Department!)

I believe that the order of my preference still has not changed. 2, 1, 3 & 4. Me too. It would of been P1 first if it wasn't for that scene where TTM grabs Liz through the window...Don't get me started on that again

For me:
1, 4, 2, 3. 2 and 4 are equal. Three just doesn't do it for me. Nothing beats the originality, spontaneous humor, warm innocence of the first.

I actually like the P3 Commentary with Mike Baldwin & Angus better than the movie. I wish Angus would do a P2 Commentary.

I've seen stuff on YouTube in the past and quickly download it before it is taken down. I actually have a UK pen pal that sends me stuff. I would post it but I know it would come right down. You know, I'll email him right now.

Good, at the time i did have to compress to fit a single layer dvd but not enough to degrade it much.
