This is a contender for greatest thing I've ever seen.
A horror host name 'Sammy Terry' hosted a television broadcast of Phantasm in what appears to be the early 1980s. It's cheesy and pure awesome. I'm loving these host segments. The guy's manner of speech is most bizarre. I have to wonder if he isn't high on something. Seriously.
He really only mentions Phantasm in the opening segment, but these skits are pretty funny if you have a soft spot (or nostalgia) for these kinds of hijinks. The other segments are on YT.

I just assume everyone knows he's lip synching. He did that in a recording studio.
Was that obvious to everyone?
The production was quite well.

I absolutely love these old horror programs! Growing up we had one for the area I lived, and the guy's name was Count Scary, haha. He was pretty awesome! My dad got me his autograph when I was a kid.
Here's a video of good old Count Scary... he blends elements of comedy and horror, and well.. I love the guy!

Nice find Dustin! This show was the first time that I saw Phantasm. Sammy Terry is a legend back in Indiana. He was broadcast from WTTV4 out of Indianapolis. Ahh the memories!

This took me back. Like said above Sammy Terry is a Legend in Indiana. When I was about 10 and we got cable out here in West Ohio this was 1 of the 1st shows I dicovered. Before him though we had DR. Creep. Same type of guy in Dayton. He hosted Saturday Nightmares right after SNL went off. Then he got a better time slot around 1 PM sataurday and changed the name to Shock Theatre. Either way this was a Great Clip. Thanks for posting this.

I still can't get enough of this sort of thing! Does anyone else remember their old local horror hosts?
A little known fact about me: I've always wanted to start my own campy little public access horror show. I've actually been giving it a lot more thought recently as well, and it's really something I would like to do. I probably won't really get too serious about it for another couple of years, but I think it would be great fun to dress up as some creepy weird character and act cheesy for an audience of like 8 people, haha.

The only host I can remember in Chicago is Svengoolie. The guy who played him also hosts the Stooge-a-palooza show here.

Hello Phans, first post here, but I had to jump in on a favorite topic of mine: Horror Hosts.
I grew up watching Count Gore in the late 70's/80's where my love of classic horror was fed. I miss having local hosts showing late night horror movies like the Universal classics. I catch him and other hosts online these days.
That is very cool that Sammy Terry hosted our movie. I have a couple of Sammy Terry movies (The Thing 1951 and The Mummy 1958) but would love to own a copy of this one for my collection.
If anyone does own a copy, I would be willing to trade from my own Horror Host collection. I have about 75-80 hosted movies (Universal, B grade, Corman, 70's, Specials etc.) that I would trade on a collector to collector basis only. Even if you have another host, I'm always up for a trade. PM me if you are interested and I will send you my list.
Looking forward to discussing more Phantasm. I just watched I and II again this weekend. III and IV are on deck.
What a beautifully strange series we love.

Welcome Baron, glad to have you here. Ah, the good Count Gore! I've seen the chap in videos and maybe in the American Scary documentary. Looks cool!

Thanks Dustin! Thanks for posting that clip.
Svengoolie, Elvira and Wolfman Mac are the only ones I know that are on a national schedule, although we don't get Sven here and Elvira is on at 1:00am Sunday nights. Wolfman Mac I sometimes catch on RTV.
The Bone Jangler, Penny Dreadful, Dr. Destruction, Ivonna Cadaver are among some of my other favorites.

We also loved dr. creep i even got to meet him a couple of times, but every chance i got i always watched sammy terry and dr creeps shock theater, and saturday night dead. I used to love horror host i believe this is something the kids today dont get to enjoy. We have internet horror host but its just not the same as waiting up late to watch a good horror movie, with a cool horror host. Its to bad we dont have horror host now and days because with todays awsome technology and superior special effects we could probably have some really bad ass horror host shows, and that would make watchin todays horror movies even that much better

I don't know this character, but that is very cool that his son took over a character that his dad obviously filled very well for you guys to all love him. I have seen Svengoolie's show broadcast here in Jacksonville, FL. I agree with Blooddrop that there is just that "something" about sitting up late a catching your fav show or movie, especially with a great host. Not horror related, but i am a huge MASH fan and i used to love to sit up past the 11 o'clock news to catch the double dose of old MASH episodes! I would gather my chips, little debbie pies, & coke (all those things that Mom hates, LOL) and hold up on the couch till early in the morning...miss those days!

Check out "Sammy Terry Scary Tales" on Youtube. Bob Carter was well into his 70`s, when it was filmed.2009 was the last year he made appearances. After that he turned over the role of Sammy Terry to his son.
