I'm really digging what you're making man!
Also, as admin here, I'd like to welcome you to the forum!
I do think that atmosphere and ambiance are key in a game centered around Phantasm. A sense of isolation and being secluded might be ideal as well. What sort of enemies are you putting in there? I think a nice variety (dwarves, gravers, spheres, zombies, etc.) would be awesome. You could even toss in some "bosses"... like the finger-bug from P1 or the Liz back monster from P2. Also if possible, having a few weapons other than the quad barrel would rock, like a pistol, baseball bat, etc.
I know my suggestions have probably all been thought about already, but I just thought I'd toss my thoughts into the mix. I have plenty more, so maybe I'll post them later!

I think having an object to the game is a must. Since the Tall Man can't be killed, maybe the goal should be to save Tommy, Jody, Mike's parents, or whomever, to prevent the circular curse of Phantasm from occurring. They could be hidden in different areas of the Phantasm World.
Gotta have the Ice Cream Truck and the car- hearse chase from the first film (through winding mountain roads).
There's just so much stuff that could be done but I'm sure the practicality of this immense under taking has to be considered.
Looks awesome.

Cool!, Thanks guys, I've posted some new screens at moddb. www.moddb.com/games/project-phantasm/imagesI'm working on the car chase , I gotta have that. I've been so busy with the levels I almost forgot to model the ice cream truck.. If nobody mentions it I could over look it so I really appreciate the comments and suggestions. Some of the enemies i have thought of are in the pic above in the first post, it's like an enemies wallpaper I made. but fear not there will be more, more weapons you bet I prefer a revolver myself and knives. maybe even a machete and a sword too maybe, the dwarfs really need to be shown whos boss. My goal with the dwarfs are to really make them go splat and messy too if possible. Having a goal is a good idea as having a story to follow with some continuity instead of running around aimlessly, I agree. at the moment I'm getting levels to work with and add story, gameplay after. Once theyre made then I can do something with them. The problem I'm having right now is the stupid ambient occlusion not rendering shadows correctly and I'm working around it for now as I'm sure it can be fixed later on. As for using characters like mike, jody or reggie I'm not sure about likeness legalities, but I'm not gonna worry about that because if anything it would just be an artistic expression in digital art of film in pop culture. For Ambience in sound, I have plenty to choose from as that will set a good feel to the areas. It would be great to have an AI bot as a sidekick companion in the game like co-op but we'll see. first things first, getting the assets built and working. most I've already made in doom 3 and are easy to bring over in UDK however I'm making new stuff as well. like some different spheres.....hint hint. What I didn't say nothing.. finger monster sure why not, as for bosses I dunno aside from the mutated cop and the tallman I'd have to invent some. which will be fun. Great, thanks ,keep the suggestions coming as I will read them all.

Looks spiffy! I particularly like how you've got the mortician's severed hand stabbed into the door. Nice touch!
Neither Baldwin, Thornbury or Bannister would much care about this unless you started selling it. If you've already gone so far as to use Phantasm and Scrimm's likeness, then why not go all the way? It's all the same, really. Unauthorized is unauthorized, but you're probably okay here. Coscarelli's a fan of your stuff.

Thank You my friends, I've been working hard on the perigord mortuary, and I've managed to add quite a few neat things, I don't want to give too much away, but one of the sphere sentinels has a laser now. I'd like to make the player into one of the characters but I'd like to keep it generic so that both genders can play and not feel alienated. perhaps as a cinematic I'll add them somehow to add to the story. currently working on the creamatorium.

;D ;D ;D Ok getting back on topic, In the game Im making I like adding special little tweaks, perks and treasures, many have called them easter eggs. For many years I've developed levels as a 3rd party to aliens vs. predator 1 from 1999 that was made by rebellion .uk. I have a few things posted up at moddb for that but have put that all aside to work on Project: Phantasm. When I made the mod for doom 3, I built it all in 30 days flat. Hardly anytime to impliment anything worthwhile, It would be easy to work in that media again because many needed assets are already there, but I wanted to take a different approach with a different platform with a more in depth scenario. This is one reason I decided to use the UDK platform. Now I'm not a pro at it but I'm not that bad either. In the epic games forum I've asked for help and one person has tried to model angus's face. Character art is a craft in itself as this person is finding out but I'm greatful for his effots in trying. with all the 3D tools now available to digital artists I don't see it being as diffucult as it was years ago to making accurate likenesses of characters. I've been doing this kind of work for about 10 years now and have worked at a game company before to where I met some amazing artists and programmers. In case no one knows artists and programmers are like cats and dogs , two very different diciplines. some get along together some don't. Geeze sometimes I feel I'm writing a blog instead of a forum post...But whatever, What I wanted to mention is that I have high standards for immersion, quality, fun and scares! so aside from shooting enemies with weapons there will be puzzles to solve, things to find ,and traps to avoid. Like many younger artists that want to show everything because of inexperence, I will be keeping a few things to myself for the time being in that they may remain suprises. It's coming together one piece at a time. stay tuned..... Also remember If theres anything you'd like to see or suggest Speak up! cause if you don't ,don't say I didn't ask... This is the place to where I'll read your comments and suggestions. Thanks everyone!

That's funny. I think Ace is great. I like Ace too. I followed Frehleys Comet, I don't need to hear the dirt on him. Anton Fig from Late Night played alot of the best stuff w/Ace. If you had to find Jody in that cubicle from part 3 (in a labryrinth of cubicles) , maybe you'd have to find the Laser Beam Sphere from the Phantasm 2 world (and a map from say, Jebidiahs science lab from Oblivion). I don't know. What do I know, I just resurrected my GameCube and bought the Digital Output Cable (progressive scan) with intentions of buying all the best progressive scan games. It looks really awesome on my 50" plasma. Don't work to hard! ;D

I stickied this thread because I think it definitely deserves the attention.
That's a pretty nice set up you've got there, bladeghost! Do you use some sort of Wacom tablet when you're doing this?
Another thought I had about the game... have you considered an outdoor area? What I had in mind was Morningside cemetery at night. You could even have the Lady in Lavender hidden somewhere in there, waiting to scare the pants of people, haha. Also you could have dwarves running around from tombstone to tombstone, or even in the woods (like when Mike is spying on Jody). It might even be cool to have a large wooded area not only attached to the cemetery, but leading to areas like the hanging tree, the mine shaft, and the mausoleum. Lots of possibilities there.

Hey Gopher IH, I plan on including all those.. The last few days I've been working really hard on the Perigord mortuary, and I gotta tell ya I almost feel like releasing it as a demo on its own...Lots of good stuff in there so far, yet ways to go still. Thanks for the sticky and Thanks for the nice compliments everyone! Its getting there. as I plan on covering all 4 movies and beyond a bit as well. Yes that is an older graphire wacom tablet but I hardly ever use it. Here's a new screenshot.

After learning from an in depth tutorial on implimenting a Day/Night cycle process I've managed to incorporate one into the death valley level with the hanging Tree. The hanging tree level will serve as a Hub to many portals and gateways to other areas and dimensions. here's a test vid of the d/n cycle I've briefly recorded. Looks even better on a 50" plasma TV. ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCiOn3T4T9E
