I'm sure people have been battering on about this for ages but there's a story on Yahoo news today about a remake in the works. Note the phrase "The Hollywood reporter claims.." uk.movies.yahoo.com/14072011/35/cult-classic-set-remade-original-cast-0.htmlWould probably go and see a remake if it happened though. Would like to see Ted Raimi reprise his role as a hideous deformed hag though

I have heard this awhile back Steve, maybe even a couple of years ago. I heard then that Raimi was going to remake Evil Dead after he wrapped up Spiderman Trilogy. I also heard that he was definitely using Bruce Cambell to reprise his role as Ash.

No offence to Bruce, but I hope he's not going to reprise his role as Ash. If it was remade, I'd hope for a fresh cast and a younger one too!

I actually don't have much of an opinion either way. Evil Dead just was not my thing, although i did really enjoy the 3rd one, Army of Darkness. At some point if it is remade, i will probably watch it if it comes to free Xfinity. I also liked Cambell in Bubba Hotep, that will always be the role i remember him for.

I'm not supporting anymore remakes Hollywood is dishing out. It's a complete joke, but I'm not laughing. The only remake I might possibly support is the remake of "The Gate" that Alex Winter is directing. Besides that I'M DONE- I'd rather see a sh**ty sequel than an abortion of a remake. Which reminds me- anyone stoked for another Final Destination movie??

Oh good god. Really? There is also a re-working of Fright Night coming out soon. They just released a clip at ComiCon recently. Any feelings on that?

I'm surprisingly not as annoyed by the Fright Night remake as I thought I'd be, especially considering how much I love the original. I probably won't go out to a theater to see it, but I'll catch it on DVD or something eventually. I think they're treating the original with respect, so that helps. Colin Farrell is apparently a huge fan of the original so it's not like they just plugged in some hot actor to play Jerry. Also...

...they got Chris Sarandon to happily cameo, so that's kinda neat.

Here's the clip from Fright Night I was talking about... I read a review on IMDB and it basically said if you like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland you'll like this. Though I'd like to see more of a monster movie like the original, it's obviously for the kids which is fine by me. I'll rent it for a $1 at Red box for sure.

They might eventually get around to remaking "The Evil Dead"....but for now the series is relatively safe.
Like "Phantasm", it's such a horror niche franchise that it wouldn't be all that profitable to get into.

Hate to break this to ya, Tanner, but the Evil Dead remake IS filming and has been for a while now. Nothing safe or relative about it. It's happening.

Anyone else out there ever wonder why with all the remakes instead of telling another chapter? I mean, there has to be some rationale to hollywood's thinking, but i just don't get it. Some remakes i get, if the technology just was not there when the film originally was produced and now the writer/director can go back and tell the story they wanted to. A remake just to remake...i just cannot wrap my head around that...
