I think he just died of old age. That just leads to the part with the priest stabbing the body and adds another body for the Tall Man to take.

Maybe Tally had something to do with his death. I'm not too sure.

The most important issue is not how he died. We should rather wonder why his blood was already yellow at his funeral !!!

Well, it wasn't blood. Remember he was embalmed, so that coloration was reflecting the embalming fluid.

What I'm curious about is why Liz came to the conclusion that the bad stuff would start happening once her grandfather died.

That's a good question. My own interpretation was that bad stuff was already slowly starting to happen throughout the town. But that from Liz's POV, the bad stuff would start happening in her life after her grandfather passed away. The reason being because of her attending the funeral and "meeting" the Tall Man, and because of the reanimated Grandfather targeting his own family as victims.

I just watched P2 again last night, and it appears that Liz's grandfather was suffering from a terminal case of death.
I hear that sort of thing is 100% fatal. ;D

If anyone has seen the workprint version there is more to the Grandfather zombie scene with Father Meyers. It seemed to me anyways the Grandfather was trying to say something but couldn't due to his lips being sew together.

I really think if the make up people wouldve put in the white glazed eye contact lenses in the the grandfathers eyes like the policeman father in phantasm 3, it would have scared the hell out of people. Wish i couldve been there to suggest it to them back then. What do you think?
