Wasn't the final cut of P2 way off the mark from what Don Coscarelli wanted?
Why not utilize all the extra space on blu ray and give us the original version (vision), as well as the cinematic version? Probably too expensive...

From Scream's Facebook!: "*EXCLUSIVE NEW KEY ART REVEAL* Next spring, go BALListic with Don Coscarelli's PHANTASM II. Coming to DVD & Blu-ray (on BD for the first time) as a Collector's Edition! Extras and street date to be announced at a further date. We've mixed it up a bit design-wise again and this bold and dynamic interpretation comes to us from artist James Rheem Davis." I was kinda hopin' the cover would match Anchor Bay's covers. Well, if they choose to release I, III, and IV on Blu, they can make them match Scream's cover for II. Attachments:

I'm not in love with the cover but it is better than a lot of cover art I've seen over the past handful of years.
Can't wait for this Blu!

What a US release of Phantasm II should be! Odd that the trailer for IV isn't on here. And FYI, just because trailers for I and III are on here doesn't mean Scream has them. The reason is because even though Anchor Bay has them, Don and Starway international owns them hence why there on here. Kinda like why trailers for Stepfather II and III were on The Stepfather Blu-ray.

Many are complaining about the picture quality, it's like the image is unstable and there are strange lines at the top and the bottom of the frame. I pass... Universal sucks as always when coming to blu-ray.

Universal did not put out the blu-ray, Scream Factory did and with the participation of Don Coscarelli. Don even gave SF access to his own 35mm print for the deleted scene special features. The funniest deleted scene has to be when Reggie's house blows up with his family in it and during the same scene, he goes from hysterical to yeah, let's get revenge. It is so awkward, badly written and acted. I am glad Don later put that abrupt transition into the funeral that Mike and Reggie attend.
I will admit it's not a perfect transfer as flesh tones are a little red but this is still a good transfer and the amount of detail is amazing. I think it would be silly to pass if you are a phan of the movie.
It was great seeing Paula Irvine on the documentary. Like many phans of Phantasm II, I was quite taken with Liz. I wish the documentary had discussed why she didn't return for PIII. Over the years, I've heard rumors that Paula did not want to come back to Don hated the character (although, that is not the impression he gives on the new documentary) - it would be nice to know from Don himself.
