Here's a question I pose to you all. If you were in charge of Phantasm 5 and absolutely had to add in a new character, from the above choices - who would it be? State why you made that choice in the comment section below.

More Jebediah. A psychiatrist for Mike? Isn`t he dead after the Tallman ripped open his head and took the cranial sphere?

I have to say, of the choices above, that a hitchhiker like Rocky would be the closest to the character I'd add. I wouldn't necessarily have the character be a survivalist per se, but someone who is head strong and have learned to take care of themselves through progression. I would like to see a new woman character who doesn't fall into Reggie's love crosshairs, nor being a minion of the Tall Man.

One of my favorite parts of Phantasm II was the brief glimpse we get inside Morningside Psych Hospital. Oh the conversations Mike must've had with his therapist. Could make for a very interesting film.

Great idea Dustin. It would be interesting to see and hear some of the things that went on with Mike in Morningside Psych hospital.

Definitely the psychiatrist for Mike. I would love to see the wild ride into Mike's mind during his stay at Morningside Sanitarium!

Another survivalist like Rocky, because this worked really well in Phantasm III. This was one of the strengths of Phantasm III and it was really great that she didn't die in the end. Rocky was one of the stronger female characters of the series that actually lived. Phantasm V would also work better if they didn't go deep into the mythology like they did in IV and also go back to the dreaminess of the original...

More Jebediah working on his space gate.
I would love to see a few more glimpses of the Red World, the horror of Jebediah getting consumed by the alien form.
The Tall Man during his Civil War grave robbing.

I voted for a new character for Angus, mainly because seeing him as a "good guy" in Oblivion was interesting and amusing. I'd be against yet another hitchhiker who just happens to join up with the gang...that's been done to death by now. Sure, bringing in some other new character altogether that joins up is fine, perhaps even needed, but ANOTHER hitchhiker, yet AGAIN? Find another angle to bring in someone new, or put a new angle on established characters, like Angus as Jedediah, or where Mike is likely going with his...um...changes....

I'll go along with the idea of a therapist for Mike. There are many storylines within the films that could be made independent of any involvement of any other character. Mike's time in the hospital could be a stand alone with flashbacks to the first film. This would be a great idea for a low-budget independent (albeit fan made) film. Someone with some expertise in editing could make this something very interesting to watch. All you would really need is a location to stand in as a psychiatric hospital, a doctor, a few extras, and some good dialogue.

first we need to see where reggie went. I would love to see p5 with the same creepy atmosphere as p2..... no comic stuff p3 would've done better without those stupid zombies..yuck yes more in the red world and see where the dwarves are going. also stay away from cities rural is more creepy. most of all bring back the mysticism to the tall man. and please..purty please stress more on the main song theme like in the first p1....the theme in some of the films was faint and drowned out abit by the other music.... and yes bring back jody.

Despite the few votes, these are interesting results!

I wouldn't mind a psychiatrist for Mike.
But yes, I'd like to know where Reggie went.

I'm actually gonna be the odd guy here and vote for a Pearson family relative.
I think it would be very interesting to see Mike come face to face with his parents... whether they're real, imagined, or minions of the Tall Man himself. I mean, the death of his parents plays a pretty significant role in Mike's journey--would it not be awesome to see how he'd react if they came into the picture after all these years?
Besides, it's sort of crazy that the Tall Man hasn't already used Mike's dead parents against him yet. We know he's capable of it (hello Jody).

I'd like to see more characters for Angus, to expand the lore a little bit, but more than anything I'd like something that is not given as an option: a completely original new character that contributes to the plot, has their own personality, and isn't a clone of any previous character.

They never really were found, when they opened up the casket it was empty, and they never saw them as dwarfs. So it would be interesting to see Mike's parents as ghosts or whatever.

I'd like to see a new villain other than "The Tall Man". Maybe put a major twist on the entire series.

In my thread for Phantasm 6, I mentioned that it would be great if Mike took the Tall Man's place, since it seems that Mike was being groomed as the Tall Man's protege. This could potentially propel the franchise forward indefinitely.

In my thread for Phantasm 6, I mentioned that it would be great if Mike took the Tall Man's place, since it seems that Mike was being groomed as the Tall Man's protege. This could potentially propel the franchise forward indefinitely. I once talked to Angus in NYC during the premiere of the Automatons film. He mentioned he might have the original Phantasm script somewhere in a trunk and stated that he thought The Tall Man took Mike's essence with him when he went through the portal. It'd be a pretty cool twist if Mike became the new Tall Man, but given the somewhat loose continuity and that the series is more or less going to end with Ravager, I doubt it'll happen. I mean, the series seemed to be building to that, sure, but Coscarelli has dropped plot threads many times before.
