That's a good question. Maybe ( and no offense to the girls here) but they might have been easier to catch and hold onto ?

In the book she is going to visit her Grandfathers grave or tomb. Mike finds this out when he breaks into the Fortune Tellers house and he runs into her.

I was always shocked that the Tall Man let those girls live...Doesn't seem like his style. Perhaps he was waiting to use them on Reg and Jody (those hornballs, lol)

Here's an interesting piece of trivia about the Fortune Teller from Phantasm: Oblivion... Michael Baldwin's wife, Jennifer, (seen as a nurse in P3) did the FT's voice. She was originally offered the role of Jennifer in Oblivion but turned it down.

Which nurse in P3 the one Reggie asks is everything is alright? The nurse at the desk, I do believe. I think she's wearing headphones. I need to watch Phantasm III sometime & hone my Phantasm skills.

maybe the fortuneteller is jebadiahs sister and not his mother or wife... maybe she sent her grandaughter to the mortuary.... the girls that were in the car with young mike were the ones from the antuque shop where mike first encountered jebadiah moringside in the old photograph... perhaps these were the girls reggie was talking about and also the fortunetellers grandaughter? remember we did see reggie get killed by the lavendar lady? ? all is not as it seems

That is awesome about the fortune teller! I felt her inclusion in P4 was a wonderful nod back to the original. When combined with the returning cast and unused flashabck footage, it made for a very sentimental movie.
That's why it's close to my heart. It feels like it's come full-circle.
You're argument begs the question... "What about Jeb's father?"

You're argument begs the question... "What about Jeb's father?" Maybe it's Tommy, haha. Jeb went through the gates, angry at his father Tommy for going into the future and leaving him and his mom (yet another deadbeat dad), came out as the Tall Man, and then waited... cue the beginning of Phantasm! Post 700, by the way. ;D

Wow how many times have I thought about this? I have to agree with Kristen...The fortune teller seems more like Jeb's mother to me...On the porch in her wheelchair saying his full name (something us mother's do when we are irked at our kids) overbearing nag. And if it IS his mother that would make the fortune teller's grand daughter Jeb's daughter? Unless Don plans to throw in a sibling or two for Jeb, so far which we haven't seen so I doubt. Anywho...if the grand daughter was in fact going up to place flowers on her Grandfathers grave how do we know she wasn't really going through the portal to another dimenson/gravesite....just because she went up to Morningside doesn't mean he was actually laid to rest there. And we do see her open the door to the room with the portal...why she screamed not certain maybe it wasn't her screaming...there supposedly were other girls up there. Another thing to think about... When the Grand daughter says to Mike...about Jody leaving... "If he does leave...he'll take you with him." Hrmm and so he does...in way don't you think?

If she is the wife of Jebidiah, then the girl in the 1st phantasm is her grandaughter which tall man is the girls grandfather? She was to young to be his mother.

When The Tall Man is around time is twisted, diverted and never logical. I believe that time stops at certain moments throughout the series and rapidly advances in others, trying to catch itself. Nothing is EVER as it seems. The FT's grand daughter in P1 could have been one of The Tall Mans minions, not an evil one but more of a distraction. The FT herself could be an illusion from time's past (Jebodiah's time).

In the book she is going to visit her Grandfathers grave or tomb. Mike finds this out when he breaks into the Fortune Tellers house and he runs into her. The impression I got is she was curious about what Mike said, and went to investigate and got caught.
