So, aside from just looking cool, what would the advantage be to sawing off his shotguns on an angle?
Would it be so that the blast also goes to the right and left in addition to forward?

It's gotta be for the cool look. I cannot imagine that cutting it like that would help much in the accuracy department. Then again, it could have also been done for the pointy edge it produces. Run out of shells? Use your built-in bayonet. Speaking of the old quadbarrel... I've always wondered how Reggie retained it past Phantasm II. He clearly tosses it aside down the stairs and walks away (after the dueling chainsaw scene). However, by some strange twist of fate, he somehow has it again in Phantasm III and IV (and the upcoming RaVager).

I'm pretty sure he picks it up again right after the fight.
I don't know about accuracy, the only thing I could see it doing is perhaps letting the shotgun blat expand a bit more to the right and left, giving him a wider cone of damage.
You make a good point with regards to the point though. It does essentially turn it into kind of a pike.

I'm pretty sure he picks it up again right after the fight. No, he has his chainsaw fight, kills 4 dwarves, and throws the gun down. End scene.
