I'm trying to figure out if the character Liz served as anything more than a McGuffin for Mike to chase after.
Any thoughts?

With psychic Liz Mike has someone to relate to, and talk about all the crazy stuff that happens on an more sensitive level. By that we as viewers get more answers/info while they're talking about stuff.
Earlier he has problems to relate to people, to trust them. In her he can trust. She seem to have him as a P.I. case more or less.
While Reggie mostly thinks with his four barrel, Liz works more like Mike trying to solve the puzzle.
But in the end Liz is also the greatest loss, the loss of a soul mate/partner. (Though it happens in a very non-sentimental harsh way, by getting her face eaten off). She is the high stake.
Also, cute girls are great ancle huggers in cool action movies! =)

It makes me wonder if there will be a reference to her true fate in Ravager. The Tall Man took her head implying that she had a gold sphere inside her cranium as well. I wonder if that will be explored at all.

Yeah, I find that 2 and 3 are my least favorite. I really like 1 and 4 the best.
I could probably buy that, but they don't even meet until towards the end of the movie.
This is an interesting thought that I hadn't considered. He meets a soul mate and loses her almost instantly. There could be something interesting in that to play off of in V.
