I want to see Mike/Jody/ and reggie destroy the tall man , and the gate to the : XENO_DIMENSION, too!!!! Reggie should make a 6 barrelled shotgun, weld all the hammers, so they all go off at once, and blast the XENODIMENSION's fORKS away!!! Mike should square off, for the last time, against the tall man, and this time, Mike wins, then, as the movie is almost over, and they are driving away in the Hemicuda, 8 dwarves pop up in the car, causing Mike and Reggie to get into a huge car accident, bam! Car explodes qnd dies, THE END.

Hey Guys and Gals, Just poking in to introduce myself and become a part of the phandom. Name is Chris, live in Ohio...Phantasm is the first horror film I ever watched, and fueled my love of the genre. Love all of the films but am completely frustrated (as you are I'm sure) that P2 hasn't made it to Region 1 DVD. And am desperately excited for a fifth Phantasm movie. They better jump on it quick, Angus is 80 now...I'm just sayin' What do we have to do to get P2 on DVD and get P5 into production? I'd love to see most of our questions answered...and am a sucker for a happy ending, and after all our protagonists have been through, would love to see them defeat the Tall Man. I would personally love to see some weird time loop thing happen, where Phantasm V ends in a way that makes it start over at the beginning again...so that P1 through P5 remain on an eternal time loop. To keep watching the series over and over and over. And that there really is no ending...I think that would be fitting.

Chris, A hearty welcome to the Community. We're glad to have you here. I couldn't agree more. This is a fantastic idea. I was fortune enough to meet Angus a few weeks ago at a horror convention in New Jersey and I can tell you that he is still highly capable of playing the Tall Man with the ferocity and edge we've come to expect. He stayed in the autograph room on Friday night later than most of his younger fellow convention celebs. On Saturday, the man stayed at his autograph table longer than any other celebrity in the entire room. The guy outlasted Danny Trejo. I greatly anticipate whatever his next role may be.

I was reading a comment on Amazon about "Phantasm" being one of the most overrated horror films ever...my jaw dropped, naturally, but how could they say that?
I mean, other great horror flicks from the 70's have received alot of attention and enjoyed alot of media releases...i.e. Halloween has had umpteen releases on DVD now, but P2 has had 0 DVD releases and only 2 VHS releases.
Overrated? I think there is a core fan base but I speculate that there aren't a tremendous amount of people who've seen the sequels or may not even really be aware of "Phantasm" as a series of films beyond 1 or 2.
I want to see a major "Phantasm" renaissance here...these films are some of the best horror films to ever hit celluloid and, personally, I feel they are UNDERRATED. Universal can "suck it" (as comedian Kathy Griffin would say), the fact they are holding out on a P2 DVD release and just sitting on it like that shows no regards for the core fans of the series, surely a DVD release even bare bones with no extras of anykind can't be so expensive that it will hurt them financially or that they won't make back their money on it?
Sorry, ranting...I just really love this series and have put off purchasing P3 or P4 because I don't want an incomplete collection...I want to be able to sit down and watch the entire series in a row, with a big ass bowl of buttered popcorn and my memories of seeing "Phantasm" for the first time when I was 8 years old, terrified by the Tall Man, excited as only a young boy can be by the sex scene in the cemetary (even though my parents made me close my eyes), and jumping off the shag carpeted floor when the silver sphere made it's entrance into the story.
Classic! Why oh why are they doing this to the Phans?
(Okay, a little melodramatic but you get my point)...

I had to DVR Phantasm 2 off of HBO, and let me tell you, trying to find the director's cut is hard as hell@!! ( if ya haven't seen it, you need to, cause after tall man croaks from acid, and they torch the place, a new tall man comes out of the xeno-dimension, and takes the dead tall man's body and throws it into the xenodimension.) This would explain as to the tall man never dying. In Phantasm5, they need to destroy the xendimensions 2 forks, in order to kill the tall man.In This movie(ph5) Don should make this the most scariest, evil, diabolical and action-packed movie he has ever done, because those that are phantasm fans could always cherish these 5 films always. Also, they should show who is the ruler of the xenodimension, and why do they need dwarves for??? (mining? creating more xenodimension?) Don, make this one 3 hours long, and give us more closure, ok?

Yeah, I mean, at least 2 full hours...I'm thinking "epic" here. Possibly the first indie horror "epic"? Why not?
Most of the Phantasm films were made on a small budget...there's no reason the fifth film can't be epic in scope and still be made inexpensively (at least I can dream?).
But, despite that, my dream would be to see a major production again like P2...with a huge war of silver spheres...good spheres that have revolted against the Tall Man (led by Jody) against the evil spheres, Mike coming face to face with the Tall Man distracting him with his own battle of wills, while Reggie makes one final attempt to destroy the spacegate to cut off the Tall Man's (and the Earth's) connection to the xenodimension. So that Mike can kill the Tall Man for good.
Of course, the ending (after Mike shoots himself in the head), flashes back to the ending of P1. Where young Mike wakes in his bed...and well, you know the rest. Creating either an endless nightmare that keeps repeating the course of the series or an actual reality that is stuck in an endless timeloop that our characters are destined to live out over and over again from Phantasm 1 through 5 forever.
Just thoughts...

If indeed they finally do make the fifth sequal it will be a day of great reckoning! Mwa hahah!!! They have to do some MAJOR backstory to tie up the MANY loose ends this quadrilogy has offered. Me and a few of my friends were watching part 2 the other day and we thought about what needs to be in the finale.
1. What happens to Jeb once he crosses the dimensional gateway they elude to in the forth film? He just vanishes and returns as the Tall Man. What the hell happened?
2. What and where exactly is this dimension X or as some people call it "The Red Planet." Seriously I thought I was gonna see the technodrome and Krang from Ninja Turtles chillin out there. There needs to be more Sci-fi explanations.
3. What is the Tall Man's true objective? Is he just a conquerer? Is he pawning off Mike as his apprentice?
4. Will Reggie ever get layed by a chick who doesn't turn out to be a total freak?
5. There needs to be a more in depth explanation about the sentinel spheres. The why and the how need to show up sooner or later.
6. There needs to be more mausaleums (however you spell it), more end of the world stuff. More outlandish monsters.
7. Does Reggie pump iron? Has anybody reading this ever EVER seen a human being weild a four barrel sawed off? Two barrel sawed off is quite the recoil, it can break bones I swear. For those who have never shot a gun like this, movies do the recoil factor absolutely NO JUSTICE. Four barrels would rip Reggie's arm off. I still love it though, just thought I'd throw that in there.
8. Please GOD let Reg return in the ice cream vendor uniform. What an instant classic.
9. Can Mike actually be salvaged? Or is he completely undead? I'd like to hope so, there needs to be some kind of happy ending to this series of atrocities.
10. Finally, from what I have heard... Bruce Campbell? Hmmm... no. Not for Phantasm, this movie doesn't need B.C. to make it awesome. I think his appearance would only hurt the reputation of the franchise.
Anyway, agree with me or don't. It makes no difference to me. Everybody has their own interpretation of what will make a good ending to this horror epic. Me and my friends do seem to agree on one thing though. The series is gradually turning more and more sci-fi. So, be prepared for aliens! ...Naw, let's keep it in the cemetery where it belongs.

ok, just some food for thought, ready? Since the tall man is working for some evil over lord, in the xenodimension, what if there is a "Good" over lord, that is there too, and he has made contact with jody, and jody will somehow help mike back to life ( since tall man pulled sphere out of his head!) Think about it, if they are all from some alien/demonic world or "Hell", then there should be some sort of "Good - natured" enemy of the tall man and his evil crew, that lives there as well.

Hi! I hope we will go back in part 5 to the old MORNING SIDE house, where it all began. A last part that tie-it-up, needs to go back to its roots. Actually, I never liked the part of Tall taking over and kill the world-thing, until I got the idea, maybe the message, that urbanization are killing all the small towns of... but, that has been done in two parts allready, part 2 and 3. Keep it SMALL-SCALE, not big-scale no road travels outside the home town, plzz.
And, as you have said already, more inside graves, more marmor COLUMBARIUM mileu. If it is possible, the original one with the pagan gods and all.
I like the idea of the final CAR CRASH. Since that is what upset Michael in the first place (and all wrong there is to engines and vehicles throughout the series).
But Michael can't die, since then dies the hole plot.
I prefer THE RED PLANET, before more x-dimension traveling ála part 4.
No explainations for SPHERES and dimensions are needed, just get back to the roots with a, what is it, a 25 years new perspective.
I guess, that would make it both a quasi-remake, and a closing part all at the same time.
So, now I have expressed myself, and it feels great!!!

I dun' think it "should" end any particular way but for what Don and Reggie and the rest come up with. But in a hypothetical situation, if Don were to hold a raffle, pick a random phan and ask that person "Well, what do you think...?" and I was the lucky winner...here's what I'd suggest.
If the Tall Man is to be defeated - OR if there is to be any sort of peace between the Tall Man and the enemies he has (meaning Reggie and his friends, and it would seem at times also Michael, though that tends to be vague and uncertain...) Reggie would need some help from the xenodimensional plane(s), since the Tall Man has seemingly limitless powers accruing from his long association with xenodimensional forces.
Perhaps we could find out whether Jebediah Morningside is a willing ally of these xenodimensional forces or is himself enslaved by them. In my own experience xenodimensional entities do not work on a "good/evil" axis, but instead the battle is between chaos and order, between change and stasis. Xenodimensionals change sides whenever it suits them.
So perhaps the Tall Man's allies have xenodimensional enemies, and Reggie needs to find at least one of these and befriend it to have a chance in Hell or anywhere else against him.

Actually, I never liked the part of Tall taking over and kill the world-thing, until I got the idea, maybe the message, that urbanization are killing all the small towns I am again amazed at something I should have seen myself and didn't. You are very interesting, fantasyball. Glad you showed up here. What is marmor COLUMBARIUM? Sounds like a mausoleum definitely... One of the enduring weirdnesses of Phantasm is the mausoleum milieus, for certain. I always thought the whole idea of being buried in an above the ground building to be really strange and creepy, like, people thinking they can somehow preserve themselves from decay, and in doing so, cut themselves out of the cycle of the planet that needs organic matter to create new life. Crypts and mausoleums are somewhat perverted in that sense, and also because of the thought that all you'd have to do to look at a 200 year old corpse is slide open a drawer and open a box... I wonder if people who work at these places get curious about this sort of thing, you know some of them would have to be... As I said in the thread about the fortune teller's granddaughter, that theme really is prevalent in the films and in ways I can't believe I didn't see on my own, I mean I've lost count how many times I've seen this thing. Yesssssssssss. Funny how people call it the red planet, but the planet itself is not red, it's the sky! The graphic novel I am colorizing, Jebediah's Journey gets into the aspects of that world muchly...I ought to get back to doing that, these forums are addicting. I for one hope you'll do lots more of it.

I too am amazed at the points fantasyball is making. The bit re: Mike's relationship to cars is uber-interesting. Also dig your connecting the Tall Man with urbanization. Veeeerrry enthralling, these points you've made.

I was always curious what happened between the time Jebodiah stepped through the spacegate and when the Tall Man came back. Always thought in P4 it was kinda eerie when Jody says Jebodiah Morningside never does come back. Well once you become Xenodimensional your human form is no more. I think that's what's also implied when Jody says he died in the wreck after all. He died and became turned into a xeno-thing, a shape changer. Who can go anywhere or anywhen and mess with minds. One reason I want to see more of the Xenodimension or what most phans call the red planet (and which I don't because the planet is not red, it's the sky) is to see if there are limits to what the xenodimensionals can do. There's apparently a hierarchy of powers in the philms. There's a level of control that the Tall Man has that the dwarves don't. The Sentinels have more control but can still be brought down. The Tall Man can't seem to be killed. But maybe in the Xenodimension there is some force with control over him...something evil or good, or (the way I think it is) something that's neither good or evil but just using him.

maybe the only way to kill the tall man is to bring the original Jebediah back to earth!!! Like the evil tall man cannot live unless their is a body he can clone himself into! What do you think?

It makes sense. The could go back in time and stop him from going through the portal., then as a twist somehow Mike goes through the portal when Jebediah was supposed to and well he'd become the big bad.
What I really want to see in P5 is Reg and Rocky get . Then they ride off into the sunset in Reggie's ice cream truck with aluminum cans strung to the back.
