Excuse if this has been posted elsewhere. I don't have time to check the validity of this story as this is a sneaky post at work. www.theregister.co.uk/2008/01/30/nightmare_relived/If this is true, I know this will cheer Dustin up no end. Sorry dude. As if things couldn't get any worse.

I read this yesterday and it DID cheer me up. Just get Robert Englund away from that character because it's got so much potential, that's what I say!
I think that headline is misleading though because it's not really Michael Bay... at least I hope not. I understand it to be strictly his production company which churned out the excellent TCM remake and it's slightly lesser prequel. Did you guys know that Don was offered to direct the TCM remake? Obviously, he turned it down. He also turned down one of the early NOES sequels, either two or three.
I think this could be great as long as Michael Bay stays away. The guy is responsible for some of the dumbest, loudest movies in recent American history. He is the epitome of what I hate about big budget American films.

i did mean it in the sense that it would be awful if Englund were to play Freddy. It would be interesting to see who would be picked instead of him though if that was the case e.g. Tobin Bell (just off the top of my head) or someone of a similar ilk. Didn't know about TCM remake or NOES sequels, pretty cool. Also Dustin, did you mean Pearl Harbour when you mentioned the dumbest loudest movies in history??? I hope so

I read this somewhere else, and it said it was being written by the guys responsible for Freddy Vs Jason. If that's true... well then I'm sorry for anyone who was excited.

Meh. Something else for me not to watch.
I'll give credit to Michael Bay for The Rock(the movie, not the crappy wannabe action star/wrestler) but that's as far as I'll go.

I absolutely did. I also mean Transformers, both Bad Boys and the so bad it physically pains me Armageddon. That film brings out the worst in me. It makes me wish a giant asteroid would fall from the sky and wipe my entire country out so that no more Michael Bays could ever make films again.

Didn't know about the TCM thing...it seems Don was anti sequel (except for his own stuff). Was that the one with Dennis Hopper?
That was the first movie I almost puked at....had to turn it off. Thats small potatoes nowadays though, isn't it?

Thats small potatoes nowadays though, isn't it? I have TCM2 in my DVD collection and I would have to agree that it is one of the only movies that really freaked me out. It's the guy with the plate in his head who scratches at it with the coat hanger and eating bits of his own scalp that really gets me.

Hmmm I never saw that one all the way through. Sounds gross I might have to look for it.

Has Dennis Hopper in it. there are some identical bits from the 1st one, but just the really creepy ones like the 'Grandpa' being wheeled out again. It really has some horrific moments in it. Sorry Vitaman for bringing it all back up. Not physically though I hope. lol

www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=4483Ah, how wonderful. This may turn out to be one of the greatest remakes of all time. If only I could be there to taste the tears of Englund as he weeps that his claim-to-fame is now behind him. Platinum Dunes is right for making this decision, I say. EDIT: Now the world has a comment from Robert Englund and my, my, my.... it's quite a different tune he's singing now that they skipped over him. Not even a year ago he was spouting off "No one else can move like I do" in response to recasting the character. This comes form BadMovies.it

What is bad for Englund is very GOOD for the horror genre.
