Watch out, though. All of his pictures from cons include Kane Hodder. Someone I would be reluctant to meet in a dark alley.

Ah, you guys are silly. It's much fun meeting people from the forum at conventions. I think I've met a total of seven or eight of you folks in the flesh! Was just reminded of our return from Subway in Chicago, Tony. We're walking back from the parking garage, pause to appreciate a hearse in the parking lot, and who jumps out of a van in front of us?

Oh and I still love that pic of us in front of that hearse.

Spooky Empire 2010 Rundown
Wow, what a long weekend. I spent way too much time around way too many people for three days. I attended Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was pretty bummed when it ended, but it was fun all the same.
The weekend started out on Friday afternoon, waiting in line with a few hundred people to enter the convention. When what do you know... Kane Hodder walks through the crowd. He was everywhere, and seemed like a very nice guy. Earlier in the day when I arrived and headed to Uno's for some pizza and beer, someone familiar walked by me... Cassandra Peterson sans the makeup and hairdo. I would imagine that she stays in stealth mode quite a bit. After the said pizza and beer, the zombie walk started with a great number of interesting people wearing all types of makeup and such. Then the doors opened.
There were screenings of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 and 3, which I attended, followed by Q&A's by Mark Patton and Kim Myers as well as a later on with the hilarious and very endearing Ken Sagoes. I have video of both, which I will post to YouTube in the coming days/weeks, whenever I find time. Friday night was a good deal of fun, I certainly enjoyed watching the line for Robert Englung wrap around the building. That is also the point when I agreed to not even bother with it and just enjoy the weekend. The other panel I sat in on that night was about Zombies, a very interesting conversation that was.
I arrived home that night sometime around midnight, quickly jumped into bed and went to sleep. Saturday was another great day, arrived at the con at about 10am, ready for the hoardes of people that would engulf me. I attended a Q&A with the TAPS personel, and while it was very enjoyable, it was also kind of the same thing as the year before. Also sat in with PJ Soles, what a nice lady she is. In terms of the merchandise hall, there were the usual 8X10's and posters, toys and other memorabilia, but let's be frank, I was interested in bootlegs and bootlegs only. It seems that every other horror bootleg was available, even a Halloween 240min version, but no P2. Oh well. I think the most memorable thing that day was when I was enjoying this great weather we have been experiencing here in Florida. I was minding my own business and eating my turkey sandwich when I was joined by a young lady and her male counterpart. She then proceded to stand directly in front of me an spit and have a bit of the dry heaves, so I got up and offered her my seat. It was not two minutes later that the sound of vomit flooded my ears for a good five minutes... lunch was over. I also learned a few things about celebrities, they like to party. Brian Peck from ROTLD partied until the early hours of the morning, and Gary Busy sat by the entrance to the pool and berated anyone who chose to enjoy an adult beverage. I also saw an ugly side to these things... when events do not transpire the way they should... Kane Hodder couldn't get into the VIP party, and was not happy.
Sunday seemed a bit more quiet, seeing that everyone was recouping from the night before. Sunday was certainly the flagship day. Q&A's with the cast of ROTLD, John Carpenter and the cast of NOES. Sadly, they were consecutive so if you wanted to get in you have to get in line early. This also means that you have to leave after each one unless you are VIP, so I only attended the ROTLD. It was awesome. Don Calfa was amazing to watch along with the hilarious Brian Peck.
A great weekend it was, pictures and videos are to come.

Well, of course Chicago Flashback Weekend will be held this year August 12-14 in Rosemont. This year nothing is holding me back from going. I already marked the entire weekend off from work. This year's guests include Lance Henriksen, Doug Bradley, Sid Haig, Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, a couple of actors from The Walking Dead and much more. (Subject to change) Check out the site: www.flashbackweekend.com/As soon as I found out that Lance was going to be there, I bought the tickets for me and my brother. If the cast of Phantasm, Tony Todd, and Dieter Laser were there, my life would be complete. However, I am still looking forward to this year's convention. If anyone here is going to go, we could meet up and have a Coke, (I would say a beer, but I don't turn 21 'til a month later )

That's pretty cool, Natalie. Flashback Weekend was a fun show.
I haven't seen Walking Dead yet - probably need to.

I really liked The Walking Dead, one of the few weekly series i have kept up with since The Shield was on tv. Does anyone watch My Ghost Story that airs on biography? I like it and The Haunted that airs on animal planet. I don't know how much stock i put into this stuff, but it usually is interesting to watch.

I've never been to a convention but will be attending my first here in the middle of this month.
I'm wondering how do you find out about these things ? Just word of mouth? I would not have known about this one if my sister hadn't mentioned it to me and she only knew about it due to her being into tattoos.

Just check movie/horror websites, usually. Or be fans of certain genre actors on Facebook, as they are always self-promoting on there.

Just a update on the convention I attended this past weekend. It was my first by the way and in no way my last I had way too much fun and spent way too much money haha
I got to meet and get pictures and autographs with......Dee Wallace, Sid Haig, Kane Hodder (who signed a machette for me) , Ken Foree and Malcolm McDowell.
Needless to say this being my first I was a bit shy, starstruck and very happy gettin to meet some people I've grown up watching their films.
I also purchased a Phantasm 2 shirt and a JC's Halloween shirt.
Everyone I met was really nice and down to earth which shocked me a little but made me very happy how appreciative everyone was of their fans.
I also noticed a Flyer about a convention in Louisville with John Carpenter as the main guest but noticed Michael Baldwin will also be there so that pretty much sold me on driving 3-4 hours to go to it.
I know some of you have met Michael Baldwin and wondered how he is at these things? ( I obviously will not be wearing that P2 shirt haha)

Congrats on your first convention!
Michael is an absolute delight to meet. One of the nicest people I met hands down, and he loves to chit chat. You'll really enjoy meeting him, trust me.

4Barrell,
Great pictures! Love that you got a Gunner Hanson background in one of 'em. Sounds like you're talking about the upcoming Fright Night Film Fest show in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to Michael, they've got a fabulous lineup for this year including Margot Kidder and Chrissie from the opening scene of JAWS.
As for how Michael is at conventions, I've assisted at his table for several shows and seen him interact with a thousand plus folks. He is easily approachable and loves to engage with fans. He almost always finds a way to make them laugh. He also doesn't mind answering the same old questions (P2 and P5) a bajillion times. And while he claims otherwise in interviews, he HAS been known to sign Phantasm II items for fans since he does appear at the beginning. Whether or not he gives them guff while doing so varies from fan to fan. (Once saw him write "I hate this movie - A. Michael Baldwin" on a P2 poster!)
I'm considering attending that show on Friday since I haven't seen Michael in a year or two. If you go, a Dos Equis or seven would be in order!
