I watched Phantasm III tonight with the audio commentary on. I must say that it's a very good listen. Michael & Angus are funny as hell in addition to being very informative. It's like two long-time friends talking over coffee or tea. Angus's recollection of stuff that went on during filming & stuff that went on before is amazing. If you haven't listened to it, you definitely should! It's worth it!

I enjoy the P3 commentary as well. At first I was a bit disappointed that Don was absent but on second thought, Michael and Angus fill it out nicely.
I've heard tale that the final track was not at all reflective of the recording session and that Michael was his usual candid self (like on podcast 3). Most of this material wound up on the cutting room floor, though. So fearful of what it might have revealed, Angus Scrimm himself refused to listen to the commentary until January of this year, in which he was very pleased with it. He said Michael's naughtiest moments were edited out and unfortunately so were some of his funniest!
Man, I'd pay a handsome price to hear the uncut commentary sessions.

Oh man. I'd love to hear the uncut commentary too. The cut version was great enough but I'm sure the uncut version is pure audio gold!

I am a fan of the Audio Commentary. The first time I heard it, I thought Mike was bitter for the first half, but after listening to it again I realized it's just the way he talks. Him & Angus were Great.

Out of all the commentaries, P3 definitely has the most entertaining while the other films are more informative. I agree, Scrimm has an amazing memory of details, much like Weird Al does for the UHF commentary. Baldwin does sound a bit dry in his delivery but I too have heard he's a kind of dead-pan person and given the personal fact that Phantasm is his claim to the horror genre and that the cast and filmmakers of the series have been together for decades, who could blame him for being a little bitter about not being in P2?
I wonder what his candid thoughts are on how he thinks the movie would have turned out with him. What kind of approach would he have taken with Mike's character? In P2 Mike was very energetic and take charge while in P3, he was very overwhelmed and out of the way.
I was happy to hear Scrimm express his resentment over Liz's unceremonious death. I have always hated how a major character from P2 was discarded without in-story reason.
