I love how we get our first glimpse of Jebediah. He peeks around the corner to see Michael standing there....then he just unleashes a barrage of politeness. I love how Angus can play the sinister Tall Man as well as play a sweet & gentle man like Jebediah Morningside. His kindness is very enduring. It makes me rather sad that a nice guy like Jebediah turns into the Tall Man but then again, we wouldn't have this legendary series without that transformation.

Huh?
How is it a good point? How is it even an understandable sentence?!

In the original Phantasm While Mike is in an antique shop HE finds an old photograph of Jebediah Morningside on a horsedrawn herse. He {Jebediah Morningside} turns his head to look at the viewer. this is repeated when Mike Looks at the picture on Jebediah Morningside's desk In Oblivion. right before Jebediah Morningside enters the portal to become theTallman. thats where i get " Magic" picture

I get a phantasm feeling from the movie polterguist 2 when the old preacher comes to pay a visit. He is really a ghost of a fanatical preacher who caused his flock to be entombed because he told them doomsday was coming. Anyone seen that one? I would like to know if anyone shares my views.

I loved that one too, Nightflier! The late Julian Beck portrayed Reverand Kane. He was, I believe, dying of cancer at the time, thus accounting for his very thin, gaunt appearance in the film--very creepy, though. The scene where he's striding up the front sidewalk in the rain--but the rain isn't getting him wet--and singing hauntingly (a hymn from 1864): "God is in his holy temple. Earthly thoughts be silent now..." Chilling scene! Kane's appearance reminded me a lot of the Tall Man on Main Street sequence in P1--the effect it had on me. www.geocities.com/ddstone48/hymn_texts_g.htm#j

YIKES!
Poltergeist is one of those films that I have never taken a liking to. Perhaps I need to give it a fair shake and re-visit it. Based on that pic, it is probably something I would enjoy.

I love how we get our first glimpse of Jebediah. He peeks around the corner to see Michael standing there....then he just unleashes a barrage of politeness. NO, wait. How did Mike manage to interact with the past if it's almost "another dimension", as pointed out lately in the movie? (when they try to stop Morningside from trespassing the Portal/Gate). I'm puzzled and confused now.

I never realized that until you pointed it out. That's a pretty big plot hole. It also doesn't explain how Jody, Mike & The Tall Man have their big confrontation in the cemetary shortly after Jody says they can't chang anything in another dimension even though they are obviously not in the same dimension then either.

That's an interesting way to think of things too. Too bad we're not given a clearer reason for things if IV, such as why Jody all of a sudden turns bad while in III he was clearly a good guy. It would make sense if he was just The Tall Man in disguise but then his last line of telling Mike that he did die in the crash doesn't make any sense. I wish IV actually answered some questions instead of creating so many new ones without really addressing any of the old ones either.

It is likely Jody--but I think he is under the control of the Tall Man almost totally during some moments (especially when they're in the same place), and almost "free" (think rebellious) at other moments. The Tall Man probably "wipes" the memories/will of most victims (future spheres). But Jody is the key to capturing Mike, so it makes sense that the Tall Man had to leave a lot of the original personality of Jody intact. Along with this comes Jody's love for his younger brother--and a rebellious streak to help Mike get free. All my thoughts, of course.

Well, maybe a real CAR CRASH happened, but the Tall Man "revived" him after salvaging his corpse. That's the possible explanation.

Maybe Jebediah "spotted" him, but they couldn't interact... I haven't seen the movie yet, d**n! I'm in Italy. Well, my idea is that Mike could perceive Jebediah, and vice versa, but they couldn't interact physically.

You're at a slightly "higher level" of this dimension (room). A safe zone, of sorts, for the denizens below. You still are in the dimension, just on a slightly different frequency. It is called "parallel plane of existence" or just "parallel plane".
