Ya know, Phantasm II was recently released on DVD in Japan. It could be in an NTSC Format. I reccomend you buy it. Also, The Wiz and Xanadu are being released on Region 1 DVD this year. Maybe if these 2 can get DVD release, there's a slight chance Phantasm II will get a release. We can only hope.

until Universal does something. the only solution is the region 2 box set or single P2 dvd. or a bootleg copy. before i bought the boxset i bought bootlegs of both 2 & 3. this was before part 3 was re released. needless to say the bootlegs are not worth it at the price and quality isn't top notch.

I've also seen region 2 DVDs of Phantasm II on Ebay go for a little more than $20(shipping included). I bought my Sphere set off Ebay a few years back for like $40(shipping included there too) from a seller in the UK. And it got here in 9 days. Sometimes people over here in the States don't get stuff to me that quick.

Whoa, take it easy pal. I think most everyone understands that you can buy Phantasm II from the UK and then buy a region unlockable DVD player. I think the vast majority of people who "complain" about it are doing so because they don't feel like forking over $40 or more for a DVD player when they already have one that works perfectly fine. Yes you can buy Phantasm II from Amazon for like $8, but in all actuality they'd be spending close to $50 just for one movie. I can see both sides of the argument. No need to be so brash.

And then there are those of us who went out a purchased TWO DVD machines, both guaranteed to play Region II DVD's. Neither worked! I was informed by Best Buy and Circuit City that the reason for this is that my TV set was "too old" (five years?) to read the signal from the DVD machine. I needed either a new TV or an expensive adaptor found only online! I threw in the towel. It was getting too expensive and complicated just to watch one British DVD set.
The shame of it is that I really wanted to see everything (including Phandom) on a regular size TV. I am able to watch the DVD's on my computer, so that's as good as it gets for now.
So... short version is don't slam folks for "being too lazy" to get an international DVD player. Sometimes there's a bit more to it than that. I'm not about to lose hundreds of dollars for a new television, or jury-rig my system with a special, hard-to-find-only-online adaptor set. It was a pain doing all the trips to the electronics stores (four trips and a lot of explaning). It would have been even more difficult getting something online and then finding it didn't work. Glad I didn't do that.

Here is a $40 DVD player (available from Wal-Mart), that will play DVD's from all regions with an easy code. www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5584897It works on all televisions. It's not rocket science. If you're too cheap to invest $40 in a new player, you don't deserve to watch the DVD's in the first place. To change region:Press "Setup" Scroll to "Preference" using the Left/Right arrow key Press "138931" and a popup screen will appear Use the Up arrow key and select 0 for a region free DVD player Done. There. That's it. No new televisions. No hardware modifications. You can now view any DVD ever produced anywhere in the entire world.Did you even read what I posted? I said most people know about hacking a DVD player and importing a region 2 disc.Going through the "steps" is both insulting and unnecessary. Furthermore, you or no one else has any right to dictate who deserves to watch what. It comes off as arrogant and incredibly rude, especially when one of the people you're saying it to is someone who worked on the Phantasm films. If you could please refrain from being rude in the future, that would be very much appreciated not only by me, but by everyone here.

It's one thing to make a point, and quite another to be rude while making a point. Not to mention condescending.
Listen, I really have no problems with you. Only with some of the ways you've made your point in this thread. Like I said, I do indeed see both sides of the argument.

Okay.
I see it.
I see it all now.
What we gotta do is we gotta snag that tall dude and stomp the s**t out of him, and we'll find out what the hell is going on up there.
Yeah!
We lay that sucker out flat and drive a stake right through his d**n heart!

The DVD player that LotD mentions is fantastic. I own two. These things will literally play anything. After you enter in the simple region free hack code with the remote (thanks to VideoHelp.com), you are all set. Die hard fans do what they can to get the job done. I bought a laserdisc player back in the day just for the limited signature edition of Phantasm. Well worth it. ;D

I may pick one of those DVD players up sometime. The Coby DVD player I bought from K-Mart last year for like $30 is a piece of crap. It's hackable but if the DVD has a slight scratch on it, it skips. Piece of crap.
I want to get a laserdisc player one of these days. ;D

Or just delete 61 of them. It is one of those conversations that goes nowhere and contributes nothing.
