On the back of my box it says Audio Commentary with Reggie Bannister but when I turn that feature on, its Angus Scrimm instead!

Who ever has made this mistake should be dragged through the streets and then horse whipped I agree with you!!!! Do all of the MGM covers say this, or is it just a few before they noticed the mistake..

I have the MGM Special Edition version (is this the one you speak of?) and on the back it says Audio Commentary by Director Don Coscarelli, Michael Baldwin, Reggie Bannister and Bill Thornbury

Finally checked mine. Says Reggie Bannister as well.
Even thought that is screwed up. The MGM release is still the "definitive" Phantasm release for me. The Angus introduction in classic.

I still prefer it slightly over the AB disc, which is good in its own right. The MGM DVD has gone down a lot in price since the AB release so I recommend picking it up for a few bucks despite the little fudge up on the back.

One thing I don't prefer is the MGM Oblivion... yuck. I was flipping through the "memorabilia" feature on the P1 MGM. There was some really cool stuff made that would probably cost a fortune on ebay. I really want one of those fingers that Guy Thorpe has!

I want momma from Psycho!
How did he get all of that stuff?
That finger is just classic, I would almost surrender my ability to have children for one.

So the original MGM release has a different commentary? I might have to pick it up if that's the case...

No. All DVD releases have the same commentary with Don, Mike, Bill, and Angus.

Reggie, however, does some commentary with Don over the behind the scenes footage. So technically, Reggie's name can be included in any commentary mention.

So what is it about the MGM release that's better than the Anchor Bay disc?

So what is it about the MGM release that's better than the Anchor Bay disc? A kinda-informative intro with Angus, a full version of "Sittin' here at midnight," and a photo gallery I think
