I'd love to get the boxset eventually but I'm broke for the time being and it's pretty pricey.
For the record Dustin I wrote a big long thank you note but my computer froze and I lost it as I was trying to post it and at that point I was so annoyed I didn't really wanna go back. I do have a question regarding Curse of the Puppet Master; from what I hear it's the worst of the series and everyone seems to hate it, and the puppets look different yet all of the action scenes are segments taken from the other five. How cheap is this movie exactly? I trust your judgment so is it actually decent?
I also watched Puppet Master III on youtube and loved it. Rolfe is deffinately was great as Toulon, but William Hickey I really liked as well. I'm looking foward to 4 & 5; does 4 end with a cliffhanger if 5 is basicly just a continuation of it?

Cryptkeeper,
In my opinion, Curse isn't the worst. That honor goes to Retro Puppet Master. I'm actually quite fond of Curse. The puppetry isn't the best nor is the acting, but it's got a hot chick, some decent kills and a great battle at the end with a crazy new character. There's also a pretty cool mad scientist character in it. I'd give it a B-.
5 is basically an extended ending to 4, yeah. It's not a bad film at all. It just doesn't have any legs of it's own to stand on. It basically wouldn't make sense without 4. Pretty sure they were filmed back to back.
You know I've actually designed a site called the Puppet Master Archives a year ago and considered making it. That was before I got lost to Phantasm projects. 'sigh'

I finished with 1-5 a while ago (saving Curse & Retro for the set)...as much as I want the box-set it's very annoying finding it for a decent price, but I was thinking of waiting to buy it alongside Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, which Band cites as the first 'real' movie in the series since 1-5 which was pretty cool to hear. I actually was thinking about getting the Charles Band Collection Vol. 1 (Meridian/Crash & Burn/Doctor Mordrid/Head of the Family) since I haven't seen any other FUll Moon flicks really but am really into the aura their (mostly earlier) flicks give off. Meridian especially looks awesome; anyone else a full moon fan?

My teeth cringe with the suggestion of involving the SCI-FI Channel, or as it's called now Sy Fy. I would only be willing to accept the Sy Fy channel being involved if it was being co-produced Starz Media/Anchor Bay Entertainment, and Don Coscarelli had creative control. That way the film could actually have a budget of 3-7 Million.
Starz Media/Anchor Bay Entertainment gave Rob Zombie 10 Million for the upcoming direct to DVD Animated film "The World of El Superbesto", and Sy Fy gave the god awful "Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes" sequel a 6 Million dollar budget. So Phantasm V could end up with a credible budget, and possibly the highest in the series.

I've spoken with Director Jake West and he gave me the impression that his budget was about $7, the title character's costume and a couple of couches. Matter of fact, I just can't buy that six mill figure. Jake, of course, directed the wonderful feature-length Phantasmgoria documentary found on the R2 sphere set.

If you mean $7 as in 7 Million, then we're just pulling hairs. However if you mean it sarcastically as 7 bucks, then I agree that's what the film looks like it was budgeted on. I've seen it listed as 6 Million on a few sites, imdb is the only one I can remember right now. Maybe a good chunck of the money was Lance Henriksen's salary. I know if I were Lance and say that crap script I'd ask for a big pay out to return.

I haven't seen much more from FM but I plan to sometime in the forseeable future. And I agree the Skiffy Pumpkinhead films were not all that good, but they were a whoooole hell of a lot better than most SciFi stuff (For that matter so was Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys in a way, since it was at least a lot more unique and entertaining than most of their creature-features ); they actually stuck to the mythos and had some restrained direction. IF and only IF Don had creative control and the nuclear phamily were kept in, I could see P5 on SciFi as something that ould end up A-OK.

I thought that Sci-Fi ( sorry Sy Fy ) did a Horrible Job on Pumpkin Head & The Return Of The Living Dead Series. I don't want them to touch Phantasm

Hey, someone's gotta do it...soon! Here's what the poster might have looked like had SyFy done the movie. It's not all that bad of an idea. (I had to add the usual cast of SyFy flunkies) Attachments:

heh-heh...I bet your're right! You know, another common sales image (kinda over-used) would be to have the two main characters back to back. In the case of P5 I'd think that a silhouette of The Tall Man and another of Mike would be better. With one of the metal posts (gates) as the divider between the. (I just might whip that image if I get the energy... )

SyFy is still a lame name. I will always refer to it as Sci-Fi.

That's funny about your aunt! I'm not thrilled about the new title for this channel. For me, Sci-Fi is the true and proper term. Coined by our beloved (and late) Forrest J. Ackerman, may he rest in peace.

It's amazing how you find these things! I think this pic was taken during Angus' last visit with Forry. They have a long history together. I have Forry to thank, actually, for forwarding my first fan letter to Angus in 1979. The rest is history. Here is a shot I love of Forry and wife entertaining Bela Lugosi at their home.

Being a huge Angus Scrimm phan, I love when I find stuff like this or when Dustin posts pics on this board. I think these pics were taken by Todd Mecklem. For those who don't know who he is, he played one of the soldiers in P4. (See pic below). So we need to thank him. "Thanks Todd". I'm not sure if he visits this board. Also Todd did a "Lost interview with Angus" back in 1992. I posted the link below. It's funny, if you click on that link it redirects you to P-Archives. I'm not sure where it is on the board. Otherwise it's probably on his website: www.toddmecklem.comLost interview with Angus: www.phantasmarchives.net/int_angus.htmlTodd is a great fellow and most certainly has visited the board. For a year or two, I hosted his set reports, personal photos and lost interviews with Angus and Reggie on the Phantasm Archives. I thought I had taken down Todd's stuff, but clearly you found a page that I hadn't taken down. And do forgive me... but I just took it down. : ( Todd and I have very special plans for his material, which is why it's presently offline at the Archives. You can still likely find some of it on his blog or Flickr account. I need to e-mail him about the now dead links to the Archives on his website. You'll see it all again in the future. Promise.
