(Note: For those who have already seen the logos and flyer art below, I will be posting a very interesting new poster in the next few days, so please check back!) Since the original DAWN OF THE DEAD is getting a 3-D conversion for a theatrical re-release next year, I would love to see PHANTASM get the same treatment for its 30th Anniversary! Seriously, if you think about it, PHANTASM is FAR more suited for the 3-D DIMENSIONALIZATION process than DAWN -- not that I won't go see the 3-D DAWN 5-10 times when it's re-released. Can you imagine 3-D SPHERES flying right out into the audience? Think of Jodie shooting the shotgun right into our face during the Cuda/Hearse chase -- not to mention the Cuda and Hearse racing right towards and over us etc! There'd be tombstones hurtling towards us as Mike races through the graveyard on his bike! Think of the awesome DEEP depth of the 3-D when the Jodie and Reg step into the foreground with the mausoleum rack focusing into the distant background behind them. I'm seriously excited to see the 3-D DAWN, but I want PHANTASM 3-D too! You can see various article about the DAWN OF THE DEAD 3-D version at the links below the images. Please join the campaign for PHANTASM 3-D: 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION by adding me as a friend at MySpace: www.myspace.com/phantasm20093-D DAWN OF THE DEAD articles: FANGORIA: www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=6550HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i7c5c16b2d6b9258e9922632042c1a5fdMARKETSAW: marketsaw.blogspot.com/2008/05/yes-romeros-original-dawn-of-dead-will.htmlAnd of course, I'd like to also finally see PHANTASM V: NEVER DEAD -- or whatever they subtitle it. I dig your graphics, and agree about a 3D release, it is long overdue!

That, or even a plain ol' Hi-Def release would be awesome! Seeing the fly pop up at the audience would also be very cool, as would experiencing the depth of the Spagegate room. Still, before all that, I want to see all 3 hours of the original!

I'd love to see Phantasm in 3-D.
Just think of a double feature of Phantasm & Dawn of the Dead in 3-D. Now that'd be pretty rad.

I would love to see Phantasm in 3-D. Watching a sphere come straight at you would be a thrill.

Well, this demo art didn't quite turn out the way I'd hoped (the lo-res SD video frame grabs just don't give you much to work with), but I think it is at least interesting. I'd love to see a 30th Anniversary commemorative poster similar to this demo that uses hi-resolution photo images from the movie to re-create the classic one-sheet art -- possibly as a 3-D lenticular! And of course, it'd be an awesome lobby one-sheet for the 3-D release if it happened. Thoughts? WG

Thanks guys! I was asked if it was possible to make a print of this poster. Unfortunately, using the lo-res video elements made the piece so small that at full print quality of 300dpi, it'd only be around 1.5x2.5 inches tall! It'd make a nifty business card art I guess! That said, if anyone has a 35mm trailer with these shots/elements in it, and or some full color 8x10"s, I could scan em at hi-res and attempt to recreate it on a larger scale. (Sadly, economic hardships forced me to sell my complete 16mm film print on eBay a few years back. Oye.) After getting some feedback from a phew phellow phans, I revised the poster art and think it's a smidge closer: Happy Halloween! WG

Very nice poster, phantasm2009. Are you involved in graphic design at all? I only ask because you're speaking my language with words like dpi and hi-res.

Very nice poster, phantasm2009. Are you involved in graphic design at all? I only ask because you're speaking my language with words like dpi and hi-res. Hey Gopher, Yeah, I kind of fell into doing graphic design out of necessity for my own projects and now dabble in it here and there. I put together a book hoping to shop it around town and make it more of a full time job but have only managed the occassional freelance gig doing posters for local bands or the occassional company logo etc. etc. I work film production in various capacities and usually do a crew-shirt if the production allows it. Anywho, I did some final tweaks on the PHANTASM: 30th Anniversary piece and now I'm pretty happy with it -- as a demo of what the bigger full resolution poster could present. As for other horror fan boy graphic design projects, I also did a 30th Anniversary poster for HALLOWEEN. For those interested: Happy Halloween my Phellow Phans! WG

You should post the theatrical Phantasm poster right next to your 3D poster for comparison. Very cool stuff. I would love to see a P4 poster like this

I think Phantasm in 3D would be awesome...most of all the scene when Mike goes through the space gate and begins flying down towards the red planet.

I would love to just see it on the big screen...3D or not. Same here more or less; to be honest I don't know if theres enough in the movie to justify a 3-D release aside from the sphere and maybe the boulder. Same with Dawn of the Dead; is that really coming out in 3-D?
