What scene in Phantasm I just creeps you our, or downright scares you?
For me it's the scene where Mike opens his father's casket. Give me the willies every single time. It's a frightening idea that never ceases to scare me out of my shoes.

That is indeed a creepy scene, but for me, the first real jolt I got in Phantasm was at the beginning when the Tall Man clamps his hand down on Jody's shoulder... "The funeral is about to begin, SIR!".

Yeah, Tony, that would be the one that made me really jump as well. The music tightening up, and then the sudden scare.

Probably the scene when Mike is alone in the house and the Tall Man decides to show up outside the window.

The final scene is a killer! I love the part where Mike and the Tall Man face off in the mauseleum and start walking towards each other and Mike makes a break for it and Tally persues.

I'd have to go with the stand off in the mausoleum too. Love that scene where they slowly walk toward each other and stop, then break into the dreamlike chase thru the casket showroom.

The scene where the dwarf stands up in the shadows behind Jody in the basement.

I agree with those, but what about the finger bug?

For me the finger bug was just kind of comic relief. It's a good scene, but not really scary.

I'd have to go with that one. Also, when Mike is slowly snooping around his house then the door zooms forward. The absence of music really adds to the tension.

I always thought the scene in which The Tall Man lifts Mike from his collar slowly across the lawn towards to hearse was the scariest. I guess the scene has a certain uneasy feeling as Mike is completely helpless and struggles.

Don talks quite a bit about the "atmospheres" that Myrow created. I just can't imagine that the films would be the same with out Myrow's music.

"The funeral is about to begin, SIR!". That scene as well as after the caretaker gets it & Mike encounters The Tall Man in the halls of Morningside. The way The Tall Man mimics Mike's movements very slowly while diagonally from him is something I've always consider very creepy. Angus knows how to pull off the creepy factor with his movements & body language, which makes him even greater of an actor than I already think he is.
