If you had to recast Phantasm, who would your picks be? Now obviously none of us want anyone aside from the actors we all know and love, but let's just have a little fun and revisit this topic that gets brought up once every blue moon. I'll start! Mike - Paul Dano (he's a little older than I'd like, but I think he's got a good look for the part and he's not that bad of an actor) img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/080227/paul-dano_l.jpgJody - Christian Bale (think his non-skinny look from The Machinist) www.christian-bale.us/pictures/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=813Reggie - Ewan McGregor (less about his look, more about his likability and talent as a musician) Tall Man - Javier Bardem (think about his look from No Country For Old Men) blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/brown/archives/bardem.country.jpgSo there are my picks as of now. Lay yours on me! Oh, and no cheating by saying "stay with the original actors" or "use an unknown actor". Use your mind!

Javier's haircut was certainly Tall Man-ish! He was positively chilling in that film. "Heads or tails?" Brrrrrrrr....
I can't think of anyone I'd rather play these roles. The thought of it unnerved me so much during my time at the casting office in P2, I've been traumatized for life. Seeing Baldwin go down broke my heart.

Hey you cheated! Haha, it's fine. No I agree though, I hate to think of anyone else in these roles. This is just for fun.

Hmmm...
Here's my pics:
Mike: Hayden Christensen Jody: Bale as well, the "normal" look from The Machinist is spot on. Or, Joaquin Phoenix. Reg: Henry Rollins. Edgy, and has some musical background TM: Frank Langella... not too sure about him. Bardem might be the best pick here.

Man, I loved Frank Langella back in 1976 when he played the sexiest Dracula ever at the Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway. I saved up my paper route money to see that play three times in New York! This was, of course, in the days before the Tall Man...

Henry Rollins as Reggie....hmm

I think of Langella's work as Skelator and his work in 9th Gate and Good Night and Good Luck. He just plays a good bad guy. Both 9th Gate and Good Night are good examples of his "dark side" of acting. In both he is pretty ruthless and only concerned about his bottom line, very Tallish.
As for Rollins... I really can't stand him. I think he's an arrogant jerk, but he has a certain attitude that might fit into the Reg role.

Losing Michael Baldwin in the second movie broke my heart too. James LeGros was okay, but to me, he wasn't Michael...

I thought David Warner had a "Tall Man" quality about him. Zelda Rubenstein, the woman who played the psychic (Tangina ?) in poltergeist would have made a good alternate Fortuneteller. Bruce Willis as Regg, they don't look or act alike, except both seem the average joe with a bad*ss attitude and uncanny ability to survive exceptional situations. Christian Bale as the brooding, older Mike, maybe young Kodi Smit Mcfee ( Let Me In) as the young Mike? Paul Walker as Jody, he doesn't look the part, but he seems cool like Jody. Danai Garira/ Michonne from Walking Dead as Rocky, Kate Beckingsale as Alchemy, Amanda Seyfried (Red Riding Hood 2011) as Liz, Virginia Madison as Jennifer, young Elijah Wood as Tim, and Shawn Ashmore (X Men 2 Ice Man) as alternate P2 Mike & maybe Elias Koteas ( Skinwalkers) as alternate P2 Regg, Christina Ricci as The Lady in Lavender, again, no resemblance but she pulls off that "cool Creepiness". Last, & i know most of you disagree, but Coscarelli's chair would go to Rob Zombie as Director I am so out of touch with Hollywood... i know this list is all over the place , LOL! In reality, i could not see a recast at all...

Anyone else weighing in on a hypothetical recast?... I might've mentioned it somewhere here before... but I think Christopher Walken might offer an interesting Tall Man. Really liked him in the Prophecy movies.

After watching Bates Motel thus far I can't help but think that Freddie Highmore would make a good Mike. He's doing a d**n fine job as Norman.
Frank Langella is still holding up pretty well and I think would make a fine addition but Bardem does have a certain appeal for the role.

I always thought Patrick Bachau would be a good Tall Man, he was great in Carnivale www.imdb.com/name/nm0000872/?ref_=tt_cl_t15Ron Perlman for Reggie, Freddie Highmore for Mike (as a young Mike) and maybe someone like Tom Hardy for Jody.

Freddie Highmore as Mike for sure! He is extremely talented. Such a good show, waaaay more interesting to me than Lost.

You know, watching the special features on the PII bluray, and seeing how he looks now, it would really be interesting to see Kenneth Tigar play the Tall Man. I know he isn't that "tall" as the Tall Man is, but that is what camera tricks are for.

Julian Richings as The Tall Man. He played Death in Supernatural. I find it hard to imagine anyone replacing any of these characters but for the other characters you all had some good choices.

if they had to recast one of the later sequels, maybe fritz weaver / david warner for the tall man and martin donovan as mike. i was thinking bill paxton for jody somehow. thankfully, everybody's still with us.
