I just assumed the dwarf that grabbed him tore him to bits. Kind of anticlimactic...

Tim's fate was revealed in a detail from the Phantasm: Oblivion script, a detail not included in the film. The dwarves killed him and fed on his corpse.

If they would've brought Tim back, he would've appeared a few years older too since I'm sure Kevin Connors matured during those few years between LOTD & oblIVion. Maybe Tim would've had a role in oblIVion if it was filmed back to back with LOTD or something.

Well that sucks...I know most fans just simply had this theory that "he's dead", but very interesting that a graphic description on how he was offed was actually in the script. Thanks for explaining that! Personally, I think if the scene weren't to be shown, this should have been explained in some manner in Oblivion. The perfect place to do that would have been when Reg and Jen were in the abandoned motel room and Reggie was explaining how he'd been chasing the tall man for years, etc. Could have said something like "and he got a young one that I took under my wing", showing a flashback of Tim getting pulled through the mirror. Ahh heck, maybe not a good idea...

John Klyza of Phantasm Secrets has a really interesting theory about Tim's death and Oblivion. He once said that P4 never needed to explain what happened to Tim because you could see what happened just by looking at how pained Reggie appears in the film. John said that we knew Tim died, Reggie knew that Tim died and that he shouldn't have had to verbalize that. He was dealing with it in his own way.
It's a pretty intriguing way to read the Reggie character in P4.
I don't mind not seeing Tim being eaten. I really didn't care for seeing how Liz died at the start of P3 and felt it would be disrespectful to Tim as a character.

Oh yeahhhh, I remember that being brought up with John. And it's a great theory, actually. It would explain why Reggie's in a more serious tone, and how when he'd first seen Jennifer trying to use the phone in the desert, he just drove away, not wanting to expose anyone else to the tall man's wrath.
I agree on not seeing Tim's demise in graphic close-up, it is disrespectful to the character. The Liz death was disturbing...you get familiar with this character in Phantasm 2 and to see her...well, you've seen it. Not good. heh

The whole deal with both Liz and Tim being killed off at the start of their respective sequels reminds me a lot of the Hicks/Newt/Alien 3 scenario - well-liked characters being offed suddenly and unceremoniously, to the shock of the fans.
Saying that, bear in mind why the Tall Man takes his victims. It's likely that Tim isn't exactly dead, as we'd consider it, but toiling in a Dwarf Mine (or something) on the Red Planet, or floating around with his brain in a sphere somewhere. Considering the malleable logic of the series, it's not inconceivable that he might return, even if the Tall Man did get him.

The whole thing was just an eyeroller; once Phantasm IV started and he wasn't there it just so seemed typical and expected I just kind of went "whatever" at it. No recycled footage to aknowlage his existance, in which case a dirty, frusterated look from Reggie to The Tall Man would have been enough. He should have just gone with Rocky, but then again they couldn't have given the film the same ending as Phantasm II.

Sorry to necro-bounce this topic but the dead never stay that way around here and I like this topic.
Unlike the unceremonious and disrespectful way Liz was killed, I had no problem with how Tim met his demise. It's almost as if he was cast simply to be a young boy who gets pulled through the glass in an effort to homage the ending of P1. Kinda strange how a window magically appears behind him in that very last shot of the film, especially knowing there was no window in the embalming room. Tim's inclusion in P3 was like Justin in Power Rangers Turbo, he was there to appeal to a younger audience now that Mike was older but he became more of an eyebrow raiser. Not a terrible character but one who in the end was destined to wind up on a plate ready to be served to the Tall Man's minions. He did say he had plans for him!

Actually, the "window" that Tim is pulled through is supposed to represent the glass in the mortuary freezer compartment. I came very close to playing one of the corpses in there in the scene where Tim retreives the can of beans. Bob Ivy played the corpse who breaks through & grabs Tim. I have behind the scenes footage of the 2 takes shooting that scene.

Now if only you or someone else on the P3 crew had footage of the Tall Man throwing body parts into that bloody embalming room toilet and flushing it! LOL

I kinda figured Tim died so its kinda cool to know how.
I also never felt it needed to be brought up in Oblivion.

It is weird that they never mentioned him after the end of Phantasm 3. I guess since they did not mention him it was implied that he died.

I'd wondered what happened to the kid. Having said that, did the same thing happen to Rocky..?

What if?.....We've all seen the Ravager trailer. Would you think it was cool if that new dwarf character they show with Reggie and Mike actually is an adult Tim? Perhaps half through the process they shrunk him but he escaped before they turned him into a full dwarf drone? Could be an interesting idea?
