Anything new happening with the secret project?

Yeah, there are lots of weird secret goings-on with Phantasm. It's likely the most secretive franchise in the entire horror genre. You're pretty much guaranteed to see more Phantasm. In years past, we've always wondered "If...?" but now it's just a matter of "When...?"

i hope this comes to fruition soon...feel like i have been standing on the Red Planet forever, shouting alone into the wind... So a cast member of this recently listed the secret project's working title, perhaps unwittingly, in their IMDb biography. It's not on their filmography because it doesn't yet have an IMDb entry, but it is listed on their biography. Anybody up for some detective work? This person has appeared in at least one prior Coscarelli work.

Out of respect for the secret, I was NOT going to divulge it. But, I accept your challenge, good sir: Lately, Roebuck has enjoyed working in a number of horror movies - his favorite genre. He has collaborated with filmmaker Rob Zombie on Halloween, Halloween 2, Devil's Rejects, and Lords of Salem (as well as a commercial for AMDRO, the insecticide). He also appeared in Don Coscarelli's cult favorite Bubba Ho Tep as well as the director's Reggie's Tales and John Dies At The End. www.imdb.com/name/nm0736263/bio

wow....i don't know how i feel about that...Dustin, i don't know if you can recap or answer this, but did i see you post at one time that Coscarelli IS NOT directing this? it sounds as though this is a series of Reggie, probably trying to find Mike and get back to the Tall Man and is not a direct sequel to Phantasm 4...

Wasn't there speculation fo Zombie taking over the franchise, after he turned up to a movie premiere in a Phantasm t-shirt?
As for the quote, how much stock can we take in it? IMDB is a bit like wikipedia, it's not always the most reliable source of information. I've fallen foul of it before after seeing a Phantasm 5 release date in there a couple of years ago; and look...nothing appeared.
I'm still not gonna hold my breath. I don't particularly want Zombie to take it over, but it may be the only way it gets made...who knows.

Reggie's Tales.
Wow.
Only a consonant away from Veggie Tales.
Sigh.

I've never heard any speculation that Rob Zombie was going to take over Phantasm. He's certainly not involved with the secret project. The guy is simply a fan of the film. He wore the t-shirt to a movie premiere and talked up the movie on a Bravo 100 Scariest Moments program. You can take good stock in this working title. I can personally vouch for it. I've been hearing Reggie's Tales since the end of 2008. It's solid intel.

I'm simply dumbfounded by this title.
Seriously, they couldn't be more creative? Even the fanzine had a better title! This doesn't give me any hope that it will be compelling or fit with the Phantasm canon.
I just figured out why Roebuck looks so familiar... he was on Matlock. There's a bit of a North Carolina connection for you Dustin.

Considering this project hasn't even been acknowledged officially yet, there's no telling what it could end up being called. Yeah, Roebuck is a great actor and a huge genre fan. I was lucky to visit with him at his home/personal horror museum in 2009 with Kristen and Guy. He has the Demon Trooper's mask from P4 in a glass display case. He had just returned from filming Halloween II the day before.

I'm definitely not going to get all hot and bothered by a title. The way I see it (and this is total assumption), Reggie's Tales are likely (hopefully) something miniscule being done to bridge the gap between Oblivion and Part V. Webisodes or something to that effect. Going this route has become all the rage. Walking Dead is doing it; a marvelous film called Stakeland did it to provide prequels for each of the main characters.
I like to think now Phantasm is doing it - and thinking WAY ahead, it could even be a feature for the DVD.

It sounds promising to me based on the fact Reggie is going to be the main character. I'm sure they'll come up with a better title. I don't want webisodes though. I want something I can watch on my Blu-ray player.
