There was virtually nothing wrong with this sequel. All the original characters were back. All the original cast returned. It took the storyline to a whole-new level.
It was great. Phantasm II would have been the best if Mike Baldwin had returned instead of James Legros.

P2 was good but Oblivion holds a very special place in my heart. Welcome to the boards, by the way, IceCreamMan!

I don't mind P3 but it's probably in 4th place for me on sequels.

i like this one much more today then compared to when it came out. but Rocky's character i didn't like and it seemed to be a bit off overall. still the picture looks great and it is still fun to watch.

Phantasm II is my favourite sequel but I love Phantasm III just as much. Phantasm III is the first Phantasm philm that I've seen & the one that I rented almost every week as a kid.

the third is actually the worst of the Phantasm movies in my opinion.

I like it. It's pure entertainment. No down time. Those looks that Reggie shares with Tim, everytime he fails to hook up with Rocky, are funny. How humiliating. ;D Tim kicks butt!!

the third is actually the worst of the Phantasm movies in my opinion. For me, there isn't a worst installment in the series. The Phantasm series is one of those rare series without a crap entry.

I think that 2 was probably the best sequel. I saw that first as a kid, and you could get everything that was going on without seeing the original. I would say that 4 is a close second as it gives you more background info then any other film.
I loved that three brought back Mike Baldwin and Mike and Jody returned, but Tim and the zombies were a little too kiddy for a Phantasm flick. I didn't like Rocky either. One last thing, Mike wasn't too resourceful in this one, which he had always been. That being said, I still like the film as a whole. Just thought 2 and 4 brought more.

I like the way John Klyza says "they're like different flavours of ice cream". I can't think of a worst one. Like Dustin I've come to have a real liking for IV, it's a spiritual/sexual thing, A. Michael Baldwin just looks so fired up like he's bursting with some way-out power that's wonderful and ecstatic and yet scares the hell out of him. But for irony, laughs, subtexts...you can't beat Lord of the Dead.

Phantasm III was really grown on me now there is a DVD version. I seem to be re-watching it all the time. I have it on VHS, though a used rental, that did a tune on my VCR. I love all the Phantasm sequels but nothing compares to the first movie.

Did you think its funny/odd that in Phantasm II Mike is driving the Cuda and tells Reggie to shoot the f**k*r with the 4 barrell then in Phantasm III the roles are reversed?

OK I WAS wrong about Mike driving in P2, in that other post...since he does do this. As for Best Of? On Sphere Wars I posted a phan survey that about 7 people answered (and if you haven't yet, do it!) and one of my questions was "What's your favourite? For the sake if this question saying 'all of them' isn't allowed." I had to go with Oblivion because of that transformation scene, that's the one that had me going, hey, now we got all this and A. Michael Baldwin managed to end up all hot looking on top of it. Eye candy. I have this THING about guys with long hair. But P3 was definitely the funniest. P2 the most adventure, P4 the most "visual poetry" and eye candy. Now what would be nifty is if P5 goes intellectual and we get to see all sorts of xeno-phenomena and how it came to exist. That would really cover all bases.

As of this morning, I think Phantasm III is my favourite in the series. For some reason, I see the other movies looking at me with a mean expression on their faces. With this series I think it's hard to pick a favourite because they're all such good movies.
Phantasm III always gives me that nostalgic feeling every time I watch it since it's the first Phantasm movie I remember seeing although I may have a bit of a memory clash because I remember seeing Phantasm II a long time ago on Fox. I specifcally remember Father Meyers getting his ear cut off then the Sphere claiming him shortly afterwards. I just can't remember if it was before or after I saw Phantasm III. It may have been about a year beforehand. I also remember thinking Phantasm II was Poltergeist III for some reason. Don't ask me why. I was young. Anyway, I also remember watching Phantasm III a few times on Sci-Fi Channel when I was a teenager. It would usually be on Saturday afternoons. I'd stop everything I was doing, sit back, & enjoy it although it was edited for TV.

To me the evolution of the Phantasm series mirrors the Evil dead Trilogy almost, first film dark scary and serious. 2 had more black humour and was in my view slightly scary and 3 was more action. To be honest there are no sequels its a continuation of the same film, you cannot actually watch the films as a seperate entity in my mind
