I love that pic of Angus in the hanging scene! The way he swings around, whips off the noose, and glares up into the camera! So scary and cool.

That hanging scene is pretty awesome! I'll probably have my review up Wed once I've had time to watch the commentary and everything.

My review: Best Sequel, Best Release! This is how Phantasm IV should be welcome with a new SE! Transfer for this is superb, sharp, and clean, sound is pretty much better than the MGM release and while extras are a minimum, they are pretty enjoyable! What's the downfall? Nothing important, but transfer, promo, and the new featurete are taken from the Japan Box Set and the behind the scenes featurette on that set is longer than the AB Version. But that's nothing to worry about if you haven't gotten it yet. However, don't throw out your MGM releases because that includes the ORIGINAL Promotional Trailer. Anyway, best (maybe only) Phantasm release of this year! Now, let's see if that R1 Phantasm II DVD is on the horizon. Also, Horrordvds.com have posted thier review on the new release: www.horrordvds.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=681

I'm still on the fence. I don't know if I want to throw down 20 bones for a commentary track.

Yeah, I went "Photo Bucket" happy last night. There is this feature called "Cartoon" it makes stuff look hand drawn, pretty neat.
And, of course, Angus looks great. It really highlights his facial features, what a handsome fella.

How exactly do you guys get screen caps? I use a program called "Fraps" to get my screen caps. Just run it alongside whichever media program you use. www.fraps.com/

I'm still on the fence. I don't know if I want to throw down 20 bones for a commentary track. ITs $10 on Amazon. I bought a copy of it at Best Buy this morning for $12. I just watched the feature film. The quality was good and it looked great upscaled to 720P on my PS3 output to a 40" LCD. I think I noticed one small difference between this and my MGM VHS. The scene where Mike is in the Herse and he looks in the mirror to see a figure with a tight sock over its head silently screaming. In this rev he looks back once and sees the head not screaming, and then he looks a second time to see it moving...on my MGM VHS copy, I think he only looks once and sees it moving. The scene where Mike makes the Herse explode near the end looks amazing upscaled. The spark shower is so detailed. All of the Death Valley scenes look VERY detailed upscaled to 720p. Next I will move on to the director commentary as that seems ot be the meat of this release.

I'm at work now so I haven't much time to type...
But this is a terrific release. The commentary is fun, the BTS footage is enjoyable and the picture quality is the best it's ever been. Plus, those 3-D menus rock.
P1 was Morningside Maus. P3 was the Boulton Maus. P4 was Jeb's lab.
I love it. What should P2's 3-D menus be?

I never had to pay anything for it. Maybe that's what the full version costs. The only downfall of the free version is that it saved screenshots in bitmap format.
Also, VLC Media Player as a screencap/picture-taking feature if you'd like to try that program out sometime.

Ah, I forgot about the 3D menus. Wouldn't mind seeing more of Jeb's lab.
Well for P2, maybe it should be the Perigord Maus where Father Myer's got sliced & sucked. And since in the P1 DVD they use the "White Room" for the special features, for P2 they could either use the embalming room or the crematory.
The idea of another Maus DVD menu might sound boring, but think abou this. For the first 3 films, most scenes take place in a maus. We go though this constant battle and the common battle ground is a mauso. Then we get to P4, where the battle ground changes. The battle ground is now the ground zero for this evil creatures birth. We have shifted out of the norm and are forced where he wants us to go.
TND,
Sorry I jumbled that togeather. The $12 I was talking about was for the P4 DVD.

Gotcha. If the new DVD is $12, that's not too shabby at all. I don't want to pay more than $15 for it.
