A thread dedicated to the mysterious Alchemy. What's your take on her? Like her? Dislike her? Here's something to ponder... was she a minion of the Tall Man the whole time, or did the Tall Man get his hands on her at some point during the time frame in the film?

I think most likely she was killed when she found the hearse. (Though if taken into account the workprint would prove otherwise) There was something in the coffin, another Alchemy (Maybe a twin who was taken in her old town ).

Well, I love her. She was the first lady to catch my attention.
I think she was always a minion. When Mike and Reg go to the pludered cemetery, Mike sees her on the table. This was most likely a vision telling Mike that she was already dead.

Yeah, that's the same thing I thought. I don't quite like her, but I don't dislike her either. Alchemy did tied few, but big things into the plot. She let them stay at her uncle's (? I can't remember what she said.) house and that caused the door trap to go off, and caused Liz to be taken by the Tall Man, and tied the end of the movie together. Without her, the movie most likely would not advance.

I'm not totally sure what my final opinion on Alchemy is but two things are for sure: she was oddly intreaguing and deviously sexy ;D
I never put much thought into her character but now that you bring her up she's another thing that made Phantasm II as good as it was. While it may be linear I think that characters such as her still make it so bizarre in a very Phantasm way. I actually found Part 2 to be more dreamlike than the third, based on things like that, the opening, the tone, and the music. The third had a dream crossover into reality and that was about it. I was also incredibly amused by her sex scene with Reggie; not only is it notable fot the only time Reg actually scores (...really?) but just the way it was done and the lines ("God Reg, I love your head.") I personally found deeply amusing.
Like I said I don't really know what to overall say about the character, so I'll just re-mention that her character brought some odd intrigue into Phantasm II as well as another character who you wouldn't really realize as being needed until after she was gone. While I find Paula Irvine extreamely adorable and allluring Samantha P. was pretty awesome too.

I've started to wonder if all of these femme fatales are really the same minion in different dress. Yes, they all seem to be The Tall Man, but couldn't they be the same doppelganger? As Oblivion rolls around, this doppelganger appears as Jennifer, and the jouney ends there, that DG is done for the series. Of course, there is an unlimited supply of Tallys coming from the gate, but that one lasted through the whole deal.

Reg gets more bumper than a body shop. i think she was dead already when mike saw her on the slab before they picked her up, and i think when they picked her up, she was the tall man. she smiles snidely alot, and i think it is the tall man.

Totally agree!! She sort of reminded me of the lady in lavender. With Alchemy though, you never really knew 'til the very end that she was the Tall man. (do we in fact see the Tall Man and Alchemy in any of the same shots?, can't think off the top of my head right now) Every time I watch P2, I try to see if this theory makes sense at all, and it seems to. Everyone has there own views and theories on these movies, but, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought Alchemy was in fact the Tall Man the whole time.

I really could go either way with she was a minion all along or that she died some time after Mike & Reggie left to rescue Liz, most likely after she finds the abandoned hearse. I'm kind of torn on it but am thinking it could be either.
I think Mike seeing her dead in the slab was kind of a sign that she already dead or that she would be dead soon.

Didn't she host a talk show similar to "The View" about 12 years after this movie?

She is 1 of my favorite ladies from the Phatasm Series. My take is she was dead before they picked her up. Already under the Tallmans Control. The scene that makes me think this is when her and Reggie were having Sex, and there was the loud down stairs explosion. She just laughed at t like it was nothing. I don't know about you, but if I was in my Uncles abanded place, and I knew there was evil around. And I heard the explosion. I would have freaked out.

I reckon I'll pop in my two-cents worth (admittedly I agree with most of what I've read here...I'm just going to elucidate some...). As I think about this (without referencing the movies); #1) YES - I believe she was an apparition (or should I say 'phantasm') of The Tall Man. #2) When Mike & Reg were in the abandoned mortuary (to this day it bothered me that there were lit candles in the first hallway~!), and Mike saw her on the table...we all agree that it is further 'proof' regarding the bond between MIKE & TTM. However...why he had her as he did is open to debate - - Was it Mike's prescience predicting that she is GOING to be encountered by our heroes?
- Perhaps he received this vision because she was 'PREPARED' by The Tall Man in that very room?
- Or perhaps it was simply a 'message' from The Tall Man to Mike; allowing him to see part of his hand, in his game of cat-and-mouse.
We all know that the subconscious is a tricky thing (I know I've had some weird dreams that have confused me for quite some time!), and I would suspect things are even more confusing for MIKE who has the ability to tap into powers beyond what most of us mere mortals can! Whether it was planned in this manner or not, few know however; I suspect the clues to her behavior confirm that she was/is an agent/apparition of The Tall Man. Reggie making the trap at the door: "We've been tracking this guy a long time, and we're finally getting close." - her reaction here is a thing of beauty, because it fits both sides: "Heroesville" and "Team Tally". THE TALL TEAM response is laced with covert sarcasm. "Uh-huh. Yea, right." (i.e. you are so full of s**t)The BYSTANDER theme fits as well she is just 'going along with it'. (I remember in my youth, hanging with "the gang" and we'd be out in at a party or some such event spouting nonsense and performing some stupid stunts. And the girls? Well, may I say how very tolerant they were of us 'boys'.)I suspect that 'Chemy is a vessel for the TTM or a 2nd TTM. (We know there is more than one: and that raises another question: Why do we only see one TTM at a time?) If memory serves we do *not* see 'Chemy & TTM in the same scene. And when LIZ get's kidnapped; why would TTM bust through the window to grab her if 'Chemy was TTM, and could simply have grabbed her from within the house? So....we know that TTM was in the Hearse at the end, and how he able to take her place in the Hearse? Did she become/morph into TTM? We don't know, but we all agree that the character was instrumental in the ending minutes of the movie.

You have no idea how many times I wish that was me instead of Liz in that scene. Iโm surprised my VHS tape is still in good condition considering how many times I rewinded that scene. Nuff said.

There has to be other women out there too. I thought I was going to be banned from this board for making that remark...But it's true....Funny, P2 is on Chiller right now as I'm typing this. It's the part where TTM says "hello again and goodbye".

You're one of my favorite people! No banning for you. So glad to hear P2 is on TV a lot nowadays. Still can't believe it was 22+ years ago that I was watching Paula on piano wire/crane, being tossed into the wall by Rory! That set, the crew members and cast, are still so vivid in my mind's eye! One of the best moments of my life.

Mrs LeGros, I have to totally agree with your feelings about Alchemy. As far as to my take on her, I enjoyed her character, because as in so many of the supporting characters of the Phantasm series you have to wonder exactly if they are a plant of the Tall Man, or innocent bystanders caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's a dimension of the series that keeps you thinking.
