Which scene works better for you? In the theatrical release, Mike and Reg go to the abandoned mortuary and find the demonoid apparition of Liz. In the workprint, Mike has a dream about this, and then wakes up in front of a campfire.
For me, the dream sequence would work better, it would be a great continuation of the non-linear ideals from the first.
Whereas the other scenario is what I have seen for the past 20 years, so it's more familiar but leaves me wanting more.

I seem to recall that in the workprint, the flames of Reggie's flamethrower cross fade into the flames of a campfire where Mike and Reggie are camped out in the woods, NOT the hotel scene.

You are right, Dustin. I got that mixed up. I shall edit my initial post.

The dream sequence didn't seem to fit in my opinion. I like what happen in the theatrical version.

I can understand why everyone prefers the theatrical version. It's what we have seen for 20 years, it is hard to swallow a change after that.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Coscarelli went back and re-edited all of the films? It would throw a whole new perspective on things.

In my opinion the theatrical release works best, especially since it ties in with Reggie's narrative... (And if my wife were on-line, she just might testify that I've been known to use candles, music, and the occasional small bowl of ice cubes...)

Not having laid eyes on this thread since Januray 7, 2009, a non linear re edit would be the best thing to salvage P2 for me. (Sorry P2 fans, no offense.)
