Hi Mirai, I'm glad you brought that up. I have sort of a creepy story about the civil war scene. When I arrived at the old house in Camarillo, CA used for filming the exterior of Jebidiah's house and the civil war scenes (Jeb's house and the war scenes were shot right next to each other on the same property), I actually wasn't planning on being a dead soldier. But as fate turned out, they had made a coffin for Roger Avery and then they had made a much shorter coffin for someone else, yet to be determined. Kristen Deem went up to Don and asked if I could play the other soldier. It's uncanny because when I stepped into the casket, it fit me perfectly!! Reggie's wife Gigi made me up and in I went! As I recall, the weather was pretty nice that day so I wasn't cold. We shot those scenes until sundown. Bob Ivy who flipped the pink hearse in P3 and was the demon cop in P4 also got to ride the horse as a soldier. The pile of dead soldiers were other crew members. All in all, it was a fun day.

Another VERY memorable all night shoot was being in a real mausoleum in LA on the saturday of thanksgiving weekend, 1997. For those who haven't yet seen the Phandom doc, I got to stand in for Michael and shove the ball into Jody's neck as it spurts yellow blood all over, so you end up seeing my hand in the shot. I kept thinking to myself, am I dreaming this? I'm laying on a real embalming table holding on to the Tall Man's wrist who is holding a silver sphere above my head while being pinned down by Jody! It was fun except for the intense lighting over the embalming table! I felt like a meal under a food heat lamp! Wow! My black pants were soo hot by the time we were finished shooting! But it was worth it. I remember our dinner was catered by El Pollo Loco! Imagine having that meal delivered to a mausoleum in the middle of the night! It was really creepy (in a fun sort of way) being in there all night long until sunrise. I did a lot of exploring on my own in near total darkness! Talk about imagination in overdrive!

Hey Guy, have you seen this pic from the Civil War Shoot? That's you in there, right? Just in-front of Todd Mecklem and beside Roger Avery? It's from a set report hosted on The Phantasm Archives. www.phantasmarchives.net/p4set.html

Yep, that's me with the "troops"! That was such a fun day, especially seeing Angus made up as Jebidiah in person. He looked so cool! Ok, another haunting memory I have on P3 is the very stormy night around midnight once again in the LA mausoleum. It was raining and thundering and it was the only night we had the entire cast together in one location at the same time except Kathy Lester. But I got my photo taken with Don, Reggie, Michael, Bill and Angus with the mausoleum wall as a backdrop! I was so stoked! Maybe at some point Dustin could post some of my photos for you all to see. As you can imagine, I've got some great photos I took on the sets of P3 & P4.

Ok, here's another story about the making of P4. We actually almost got to use the original Dunsmuir house as Morningside once again! Don asked if I would contact Dunsmuir and find out how much it would cost to do a day shoot up in Oakland at the house. So I contacted the PR person in charge of filming projects at Dunsmuir and she mailed me a setup contract, including a letter thanking me for our interest in the house and was looking very forward to having Dunsmuir once again in a Phantasm film! Unfortunately, due to the tight budget, it was not to be. We had to instead find an old big house somewhere within easy driving distance. So it ended up being a house and adjoining property used in Camarillo, CA. The house's property was also used as I stated earlier for all the civil war scenes as well. Did anyone catch the night time exterior shot of the house towards the end of P4 when Jeb/Angus is sitting in his lab? That was the house used in P3 as Tim's house!

Holy cannoli!
I have LONG suspected that Tim's house re-appeared in P4! That finally confirms my suspicions! Awesome!

I actually had never thought about that. It just hadn't occurred to me. But I have to say, that's really fascinating! I just love finding out new little details about the Phantasm universe!
