Ok, here's another story from P3. You know the scene at the beginning of P3 where the hearse pulls right up to the camera just before Reggie is tossed out? Well, guess who had to screech right up to an expensive camera without hitting it? It was me! I was so afraid of smashing the camera & crew standing directly behind it! I also got to drive the hearse when Mike & Liz are inside (it was a stand in for Paula Irvine by the way who looked like her) and the hearse peels away leaving Reggie to fall beside the road. That was fun! It was so great looking in the back compartment of my P2 hearse and seeing Michael instead of James Le Gros!! I was like, "Yes!! The original Mike is back in action!!"

Here's another couple of fond memories of working on P4. Bob Ivy, my wife at that time, and I got to drive up to Lone Pine with the 2 hearses and the police car. One hearse was the hero car and the other which was a 66 black Caddy junker to blow up. The junker hearse had actually belonged to a Phan of the series and his CA plate read Phntasm! Of course before they blew it up, they kept the plates! I had to drive the hero hearse up into the Lone Pine hills to the exact spot where it's seen in the film. And boy were those dirt roads narrow! I almost thought it wasn't going to clear the sides! But we made it up there to test it, took some photos to show Don, then made it back to the Dow Villa Motel. I then unwrapped the black casket from it's bubble wrap which was in the hero hearse and washed the hearse with the local kid's help. They even shot some video of me climbing out the back of the hearse and yanking the casket out. We left the vehicles there for about a week until the crew made it up which was in late Oct. of 97'. In fact I believe they blew up the hearse on Halloween! How appropriate! People passing through town must have thought there was a mortcian's convention going on at the motel! The other memory was the day I drove Angus up to Lone Pine and met the cast for dinner at the local diner. Don, Angus, Bill Thornbury and his son, Mike, Reggie, Gigi, Bob Ivy, Kristen and I were all there. What a memorable dinner that was!

Thanks Mirai! Here's another memory from the making of P3 which Reggie has briefly mentioned at Fango cons in the past. You know the scene in the future mausoleum where the TM is chasing down Mike & Reg? That was shot at an old mausoleum in Compton, CA. I wouldn't advise visiting it. Well, during that scene there was quite a stench coming from the end where the spacegate poles were located and the direction they were running. A portion of the crypt wall and it's casket had come open. It was a smell you don't forget, believe me! It certainly added to the creepy atmosphere!!

Yes, your right. In fact lucky me was there that night! They were shooting with my P2 hearse that night for the scene where Rocky drives up and almost hits Reg and Tim, they say their goodbyes, then she drives off. We were there until almost 2 or 3 am! I don't think we heard any gunshots, but there were some people shouting near the front entrance to the cemetery as I recall. Fortunately, nothing became of it. But in my mind I was ready to sprint into the nearest mausoleum (there are about 3 or 4 buildings on the Angeles Abbey property) and hide out let me tell ya!
