That's interesting about what he says on a remake. But essentially everything Don said in this interview is the same regurgitated thing we've been hearing forever.

Pretty much. I still highly doubt we'll ever see a Phantasm V but at least it was something to post here.
Oh & if Takashi Miike did a Phantasm remake, I wouldn't watch it.

Don should just contact Anchor Bay, gather the money, and make V already! Besides, isn't there word of a secret Phantasm project on the way?

xScrimmshotx,
That photo and the news associated with it first originated here on Phantasm Community. There is indeed a secret Phantasm project and that photo of Reggie is most definitely from it, though it was snapped many months ago.

But as we know, Dustin knows something about this project that we don't...

I see, I've been out of the loop on any and all news lately it seems. Looks good, looks good....

Hey there xscrimshotx, I think we've chatted about Phantasm on the imdb boards before! Small (virtual) world.
Well, we know that Reggie is involved in this secret project. My big question is... is Coscarelli? I don't know what I'd think about a Phantasm project that Don wasn't involved in.

Think I remember that, hemicuda. Nice to see you again. I was just thinking something about this "project" and the way some professional artists are going about marketing their music online these days, selling digital downloads of their albums (like what Radiohead have done with one of their recent albums, where they allowed fans to pay as much as they want or what they think it's worth). What if a filmmaker (such as Mr. Coscarelli) were to film "webisodes" and go this route, maybe offering digital downloads of each webisode for $5-$10? I was just curious as to what other fans would think about this...

Given all the trouble Coscarelli has had trying to get the films made I'm surprised he didn't think about turning Phantasm into a tv series and pitching it to HBO.

Well I hope the Alamo Drafthouse scene is included in this secret project.

I still say David Lynch is a beyond perfect choice for a reimagining Maybe it won't be as mainstream as every other remake coming out but it could very well be the best thing to happen to horror and fantasy in a long time...

Now that Anchor Bay is owned by Starz, which also owns Overture Pictures, I'm surprised Don hasn't brought the idea of a Phantasm V up to them. Anchor Bay was interested before they were owned by Starz and now they actually have the money to spend on a big theatrical release. I'm sure Phantasm V could be produced for far less than Overture spent on The Crazies and that ended up with a sizable profit for them.

If we are talking remake, a Rob Zombie version certainly would be interesting!
