I think we all know better than to expect a fifth Phantasm picture by now, but what if something happens that will kill the project forever? I'm not going to say the particular catastrophe I had in mind as it might sound disrespectful. Anyway, if this awful something did happen, could something still be done to provide the long-awaited conclusion to the story?
Perhaps a graphic novel adaptation of one of the prospective scripts? Or a release of the full script-reading that we glimpsed in the Alamo Drafthouse video? How would you prefer to see the story conclude if we can't get a full-length picture?

Ultimately, it would depend on the publishing rights.

If we couldn't possibly get a new movie then I think Oblivion was a great way to end things.

If we couldn't possibly get a new movie then I think Oblivion was a great way to end things. Whoops. I should have foreseen that response. Let me rephrase the question: "If Phantasm V becomes impossible and you are not satisfied with Oblivion as the conclusion to the story, how would you like to see it wrapped up?" Personally, I'd forego anything fancy and just have them put the full script reading out on DVD. Seriously, a single-layer disc with a subtitle option is all I'd need to be satisfied.

...I would cry ._. But after that, I'd want both the reading and the script itself released (In case there's any extra action). Also, I'd want a comic series with even more explanded action; doesn't hold a candle to a new movie but it could still gimme a fix, and like over an even greater period of time

Johnboy... I have thought the same thing in the past as well . I would hate not to see the 5th one. According to Angus Scrimms wikipedia website the 5th one is called Phantasm V: Vegeance and is scheduled for release in 2012. Then I read that the money hasn't been secured for the 5th one, but the name was changed to Phantasm's End. Kinda makes me wonder why they're saying there won't be another one in the near future but the name of the 5th one has change.

I'm definitely no Wikipedia-basher, but when it comes to rumors/hype, you definitely can't trust people not just to throw on there whatever crap they find cool :/ .
There are no real plans for PV at this time (I don't think, anyway, but I'm definitely feeling awesome if I'm wrong! X) ), Phantasm V:engeance is just... odd and Phantasm's End is I believe what part IV would have originally been called >.> .
