So, Don Coscarelli recently took to Twitter to spew his thoughts and update his fans on a regular basis. Forgive me if I'm wrong...but some of those tweets just don't sound like a person who is 56 years old...e.g. "who would've thunk"...

Don sent out another cryptic tweet, this one is a bit more... odd:
"Scouting today for a location in another dimension. How the hell does one find that?!"
I think he owns a red herring market, he certainly is throwing a lot of them out there.

The scene he's describing does exist... but he's wrong about it being from Phantasm V. That would be an assumption on his part. I only wish Romano's script was being filmed. Interesting that he's seen what he's seen, but apparently doesn't really know what it is.

Then, possibly he's also doing Phantasm V too or the top secret project. Don't forget, Tim Burton did Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by day and Corpse Bride by night.

I see that "Phantasm V" became "Future Phantasm Projects" on the main page. This hurts me a little. It's like one more symbolic nail in the coffin of a potential Phantasm 5.

Can't wait to see what Alexander has to say next. He's going to be mad when he reads the last comment. Maybe we should just amuse him and say oh wow, that's really cool, thanks.

Don't be surprised if those comments don't last too long. But then again, I tried to email that website and received a notification that it was not a working address.
I also don't want to get into a pissing match at phantasm.com, they hate this site enough as it is.

That is partially my doing. Since this catagory is used to discuss any future projects, not just another installment, I thought it was appropriate to change the header, so I petitioned Gopher in Heat to do so, and he obliged. Since there is no "Phantasm V" in the works, but there are future projects in line, I think it fits nicely.

I'm usually a pretty patient feller, but out with it, Don. Give us at least a sneak peek at something.

Things will come when it's time. Plain and simple.
Those waiting on Phantasm V might want to not hold their breath. There are other things on the horizon though.

Mayhaps I am jumping to conclusions, but it seems like the mods here are privy to these secret projects that other folks aren't. So, in that regard, it's a bit easier to be patient. But it's been 12 years since Oblivion. How patient must one be?

But it's been 12 years since Oblivion. How patient must one be? Maybe, but everyone is so vague and oblique about it, it's impossible to tell how much anyone knows. They might be privy to nothing more than a set pic and a one-line synopsis, or they could know everything. Only they know, and they're not letting on (for obvious reasons). All I can guess, is that it could be one of the following (or combination thereof): 1) A short Phantasm film (possibly to promote a possible fifth movie to financiers) 2) A Phantasm TV pilot or web series 3) Footage for a Phantasm video game or similar interactive/web-based media The only thing we can say for sure is that it will be very low budget, with a very small crew, since the bigger the budget and crew, the more people involved; and the more people and companies involved, the higher the likelihood that word will get out ("three men can keep a secret, if two of them are..." etc. etc.). Since almost nothing has been leaked, it stands to reason that the project must be small enough to get under the radar.

Since almost nothing has been leaked, it stands to reason that the project must be small enough to get under the radar. I'll be honest, while I am grateful to get anything new Phantasm-related, I am really only interested in a fifth and final film. A web series seems like a step back for a series that has created such a strong back story and mythology. Every single chapter, while low budgeted and fairly-intimate stories, have somehow felt bigger than life. And I would hate for that to get dissected into 10-20 minute increments. I am really, really good at being wrong, but I think a video game or TV series are pretty unlikely. If they are still making Witchcraft movies (for Peter's sake), I don't understand why it's so hard for Don to get financing for a new Phantasm. I would certainly like to think there are more Phantasm fans than that DTV garbage. But, again - I'll take what I can get.

Honestly, I don't see how it could be anything BUT a web series. I mean, some videogames cost more than a low-budget movie these days. And how many successful games are being developed from movie series dating back more than 30 years? So I highly doubt it's a game. It could be a promotional tool to try and raise finances for Phantasm V but wasn't that what Oblivion was supposed to be?
Maybe my imagination is limited but I sense web series or something similar.
