So Community,
Tell me... what are your holiday plans? Doing anything new and exciting this Christmas/Hanukkah/Festivus? Or sticking to tried and true traditions? Got anyone anything cool or getting anything cool? I got a new bed for the holidays from my parents - thank the Maker!
I myself am blessed to have Christmas Eve off from work and Christmas Day until 6PM. My family always goes to the movies on Christmas day and this year, it's going to be Little Fockers, which I dread (kill me now - another Ben Stiller movie). I suppose it's better than the alternative, which would be Yogi Bear.

My family is throwing a Christmas Eve party at our house. We use to have the party at my uncle's til 2008 and last year we had it at my aunt's. Then we're having a Christmas Day party after. Suprised you mentioned the Yogi Bear movie cause the folks over at Cartoon Brew hate it. It's pretty much being bashed by fans.

Christmas dinner with relatives in OC. Thinking of possibly spending a quiet, introspective Christmas Eve alone by the ocean. If it stops raining. The older I get, the more I'm trying to keep Christmas Eve something spiritual, personal and precious. Not the hussle of last minute shopping or the gaiety of parties. Just a time of soulful reflection.
Good wishes to you all, my friends. God bless and keep you. See you in 2011.

Nothing, since my mom died in 93 it has been just another day. awwww...I'm so sorry. I lost my Dad in '89, one brother in '92 and the other brother in 2000...Somehow time did heal me. I still think about them during the holidays...This year I'm spending time with my relatives on Christmas Eve and Day and will then go to Atlantic City for a few days since I have the week off.

Thanks, depending each year it can be cool other times like now it can be a bummer. Otherwise sorry for being a downer in this thread as after i posted i realized i should have used discretion and kept it as a thought in my head, Merry Xmas to all.

Just heading down to see my folks for Xmas on Wednesday for a few days. It's started snowing here in the UK, and seeing as we're useless at dealing with any kind of snow, the country has ground to a halt. So hopefully it will all work out. My wife thinks it's hilarious - she's Polish and they deal with temperatures of -20 degrees celcius every year and they seem to manage. Looking forward to seeing the family this year.
Merry Xmas to all, whatever you are up to and many happy holiday wishes for the New Year!

This post gave me a good chuckle. I remember taking the hydrofoil from France to England just after Christmas 1985 and arriving to a relatively warm and rainy London. It was such a relief to get out of the snow throughout Austria and walk on solid ground again like a normal person! So perhaps snow is something of an anomaly in London? And that would explain the (chuckle) "country grinding to a halt." Warmest good wishes and enjoy your holiday!

Maybe it's this:
Funny, a lot of global warming experts said the UK wouldn't see snow again. Oh wait a minute....it's climate change
Xmas Eve will be solo, good idea PM. Xmas day = family. No gifts just hangin'. It's true, unless there's little rug rats running around, it's just another day.

Hope you all had great holidays whatever you got up to. Snow finally melting here, but managed to avoid it. Some people not so lucky with UK airports shutting down left right and centre. Here's a lovely picture of our country all covered in snow. Although our country is supposed to get warmer and wetter, we get arctic blasts every now and then which freezes us. Usually gets blamed on some jet stream altering. Oh well, I've enjoyed it nevertheless, hope you have too
