I enjoyed that very much, especially the first part with the darker Michael meditating underwater (kind of like Percy Jackson only cooler)! I also enjoyed Michael and Morningside walking side by side at their own surreal pace, equals in power. I liked the Bermuda Triangle allusion too. I would have loved to have seen more of a character study of the "light" Mike, but then, I guess without his darker half, his personality would be kind of... light. lollol Very much liked the sudden reunion of Reg with his daughter and his shock. lollol There definitely is a story that's going to develop there! So, was Rocky the Ninja warrior we saw speaking with her master at the beginning. Sounds it. I remember the allusion to an apprentice too--and it was clever how you worked Tim in. This is a personal preference--but I love character studies. The fewer characters around (too many gets kind of busy and distracting), the better to focus on one or two characters. Definitely, I would love to get your inside scoop on what is going on between Michael and the Tall Man. And I so want to see the old Ninja master again--he knows LOTS more than he's letting on! Oh, yeah! Keep writing, Prymal. Fun stuff here! PS Did you pick the drive-in because of that cool Horrorhound cover? Or maybe because you saw a Phantasm film at a drive-in? Those places used to have such personality! I loved the allusion to the speaker poles looking like that field of spacegates!

Thanks Postmortem! I defiantely agree with the "too many characters" lol. I have alot of peices on the board to move around at the moment and i found that a bit hard to work with! I also agree with liking character studies and i do plan to reveal my interpretation FULLY on MIke and his relationship with the Tall Man (finally, answers, YEAY!). Rocky was the 'kenouchi' (apprentice) the old master was talking to, Tim her protege, and her daughter the 'responsibility' she left in the masters care. Look for the Master in Flashbacks next week (hint: The Master looks like Kung Fu's David Carridine) as well as his battle with the Tall Man when he invaded the Bujinkan Sanctum. Also look for a closer study of what 'Light Mike' thought of his reunionification with 'Dark Mike'. Lastly, i have a love for drive ins, my Dad refused to go to a theatre. I had only seen 4 movies at a theatre when i left home at 15, lol, the rest were drive in movies! Anyway, as i am writing this series, sometimes i googel images for whatever pops in my head and i thought of abandoned drive ins (man, some of the photos online look really creepy) and also that was my inspiration for the abondoned plane graveyard that Regg drove through in the 1st chap of ICe Cream Chronicles! Thanks for the feedback, man it's really great when someone leaves comments (good or bad) and REALLY great when someone has questions, i love it!! Thanks!!

I know this is a bit off topic, but I actually have been to several abandoned drive-ins and have done a fair amount of photography in them. Even empty, they're something special.

Hey, finally got finished reading this after one crazy week. Really enjoyed this. Having the characters come together for a battle was a great idea and quite easy to visualise. I'm very flattered as well for the references to my work too, you worked it in very nicely. It does get a little busy in places and some of the descriptions you use can be a little cumbersome. Simile can be a great tool to help with that. I think looking at photos of places and objects is a very good technique to help describe things on paper.
I liked the reintroduction of an older Tim and making him a bit more bad*ss. I think had the character been a little older in the original movies, he might have been a bit more accepted. I thought the drive in for a location was a gerat choice. It reminded me of The Drive In series of stories by Joe Lansdale, to which Don Coscarelli wrote the introduction for and is very funny. there is some great concept artwork for it too, one of which is an abandoned drive in and listed on the billboard is Phantasm 1 & 2.
You're certainly churning them out very fast, so can't wait for the next one! Good luck.

Thanks Steve, i'm very happy you liked my reference for your characters! In the next few chapters i will be referencing some of Kristen Deems work as well! ( FYI- i did ask for permission first, there also as well, lol) She did a great story called "The Portal" in a Fanzine " Further Excursions into Oblivion" edited by Richard Elkin. If anyone ever has a chance to see these stories i highly suggest you do so! "The Portal" was my fav, but all of the works therein are quiet good and worth a read! Thanks for the critique! This is the first time i have ever attempted weekly short chapters, and i am definitely learning on the fly, lol! I have HUGE finish in mind, one that should have that "Phantasmisque" feel to it. I hope it's powerful enough that everyone is like, "WOW!!" and hopefully NOT like "What the hell was that?!!" LOL. Thanks for the feedbacks, i love 'em, really good to hear from you guys.-Prymal

Love those, Goph!! I keep meanig to take my digital camera with me wherever i go (i am def. NOT a pro, lol). I keep seeing some very cool subjects. One that i missed yesterday was the smoke filled sky from the Okeefanokee swamp fires. The clouds dropped ash on all of the cars at the condo here on Amelia Isle & the light was a very hazy yellowish green. The sun was a dull red, it all looked very surreal and apacolyptic, wish i had captured it! I appreciate the posts very much Gopher, it almost brings my last chapter to life. lol!!

Thanks! Too bad you didn't have your camera, that sounds like it would have made an awesome photo!
