That's cool, Floyd!! The pic with the river actually reminds me of my hometown in North Carolina! Love the "Eye of the Earth" name, too cool, man! I love those power or mystical names, sounds like a good place for the Tall Man to pop up!

Cool photos, Gopher! I didn't realize that Columbus was that big of a city. We might be heading out to Fort Clinch this weekend for cookout. If we do go i will snap some pics of the fort and beach for you guys. I will also try to get some of Old Town Fernandina, most of the buildings there are over a hundred years old, with many (over 100 i think) Victorian homes. I just recently discovered that Fernandina Old Town here on Amelia Isle was a pirate town at one time (which i think is so cool, lol). And just an FYI for any partiers and drinkers out there, we have the Palace Saloon, Florida's oldest working bar!

Thanks! It's by no means a HUGE city, but it's a decent size, but not so large I feel unsafe or anything. Definitely has a "downtown vibe".

Sorry people of Oklahoma, Alabama and Missouri, if I offended you pictures of a tornado. We have a tornado is a once in 100 years, and in your states, they often. And it's not funny.

I live in Fort Myers, Florida. Just pop in GAR's Day of the Dead, and you'll see what my current hometown looks like.

No, seriously....
I'm originally from the most beloved Town of Cicero, Illinois...a suburb on the western edge of Chicago that has probably received just as much notoriety as Amityville--just for different reasons. For most of its existence, the Town of Cicero was famous for being a mob money-making machine with two race tracks, a tavern on every corner, and a made member of the Chicago Mob in the mayor's office...and in the Civil Rights era it was also notorious as being the most racist section of America's most racist city and the most heavily defended bastion of white racism in the country. My old hometown was often the setting for "The Untouchables", but no episodes were ever actually filmed there. A fifteen minute segment of the PBS Civil Rights feature "Eyes on the Prize" showed a stretch of Cermak road during a race riot that was about four blocks from my old home. My old neighborhood was actually used as a location in several feature films, including: 1. The Blues Brothers--The scene where the boys go to Mrs Tarantino's house was about four blocks from where I grew up. 2. Uncle Buck--The scene when they go to the "Palace Bowl" was shot on 25th and Laramie...about three blocks from my ancestral home. 3. Wayne's World--Durring the opening montage they pass by "Scatchell's", a famous hot dog stand on 22nd and Cicero, about five blocks from my old house. 4. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer--The scene when Henry and Otis go out cruising for hookers, they pass by two of the most notorious honkey-tonk strip-joint whorehouses ever to operate in that town, the Towne Revue and The Show of Shows....which were actual brothels that were in operation until 1996. I grew up right across the alley from the Towne Revue. Now, I live in Florida...in Fort Myers, to be exact. Anyone who wants a look at my new hometown only has to catch the first five minutes of George A Romero's Day of the Dead. It's pretty much the same as it was 27 years ago...even with the zombies!
