This has long been an iconic piece of weaponry, but does anyone know whether this is actually possible to make? Would it stay together when you fired it? Would this thing even be legal (not that it matters in the movie)? My knowledge of firearms is pretty minimal.
Also does anyone know how the prop was made for the film? It looks like a proper firearm and does at points fire blanks/squibs. Are there any blueprints for it?

I asked Postmortem the same thing. I have some knowledge of firearms and i can only say that if i was willing to shoot a quad barrel shotgun, it would have to be smaller than Reggie's 12 gauge. Maybe a 4-10....

I've only ever fired the British Army rifles, so I've no idea when it comes to shotguns. Over ever seem them fired at clay pigeon shoots. It came to me as a thought after seeing a trailer for "American Guns" on the Discovery Channel and thought I wonder if asked, they would do a commission piece. LOL.

There is an old American movie with the actor Jimmy Dean ( the sausage king, not the James Dean) where he plays a southern sheriff (or bounty hunter? i 4get) and he carries a quad also. Jimmy's is stacked though, as in 2 top & 2 down, not side by side mounted like Reggie's quad. My own real-life personal fav for the zombie apocalypse is the Mossberg 12 gauge riot gun, interchangeable long-to-short barrel and stock-to-pistol-grip, long barrel fully choked for slugs, pumkinballs, or double ought buck. This thing should get you where you need to go no matter how many zombies, flying spheres, or the Tall Man himself get in your way, LOL.

I definitely can recall a few times that the quad shot blanks. It was pretty loud too. I can still "hear" in my mind the 2nd AD on the megaphone shouting, "Fire in the hole!!!" and everyone trying to prepare themselves with earplugs, etc. I don't think they ever used real ammo. The quad is pretty sturdy--from P2 through P4 that's a solid decade of use.

That's pretty awesome. I could imagine the kick that thing would throw out if it did fire actual rounds. That must have been an awsome sight.
There is an Aussie film called Undead from 2003 in which a guy straps three shotguns together as shown in the clip below at 1.05 mins. Not as slick as Reggie's weapon, but close to it.

You know, i remember the Undead movie and i kinda liked it. Besides the trio of shotguns, whenever there is a close up of the grasshopper getting beamed up also sticks in my memory.

The original script called for a regular shotgun that used a clip. I defer this question to Postmortem: who thought up the quad?

I also wondered if another "super cool" weapon would have introduced if 5 had ever happened, and what that super cool weapon would be? Any ideas on an unusual weapon...?

Instead of a flamethrower, a liquid nitrogen thrower to freeze the S.O.B

Actually, i really like that idea Steve! I loved the flamethrower from P2! I used to be Supervisor in a building supply back in North Carolina and i remember describing the flamethrower and how it was made to an engineer that worked with us and he said he thought he could duplicate it. Now i wish that i had taken him up on that...

In one of the previous incarnations of the forums, I do remember someone making up a flamethrower, a-la-LeGros, but for the life of me I can't think who it was. So it is possible.
Anyone know who it was or do they have footage?

I seriously doubt there will ever be as cool a weapon as the quad! if i had to choose, i would pick the quad over a lightsaber any day, LOL!

The flared tip definitely gives it extra character. Kind of funny how Reg used yellow shells in P2 what with the creatures of the Tall Man having yellow blood. About that, yellow shell casing represent 20 gauge and red for 12 from what I've read. Someone in the prop department screwed up!
