In addition to Phantasm, I am also a huge Hellraiser fan. I go and read a lot over there on the Hellraiser boards. I find Hellraiser to kind of be in the somewhat obscure horror boat with Phantasm also with a seriously dedicated fan base. They also sit around/ wait/ discuss the possibilities of the next or new installment movie in that series.
However, as they wait around for the next movie or reboot, they are getting their steady fix of the Hellraiser world through comic / graphic novel releases.
I'm not a huge fan of comics, but in case of Hellraiser, I dont mind that its a comic format as long as i get a new tidbit of information.
Just wondering if that idea had ever been considered, or had folks felt that Phantasm wouldn't jive in that format? At least if Don didn't want to make a new movie, He could occasionally throw us scraps through a comic/graphic novel, or perhaps let someone else do it and get Dons approval.
I think you could bring a new generations of fans into the fold via comic which in turn would lead them to the movies.
Anyway, pretty new here, just thought i'd ask.

Back in the mid-90's, an art student in Philly sent me a bunch of color drawings--pages and pages--of a "Phantasm 2" comic he'd done while in high school. It was quite impressive (though unfinished), and I passed these along to Coscarelli. A couple of years later the fan/artist was hired to work on P4. Justin still does "Phantasm" art in his spare time. The movie just inspires that kind of thing.
Also, in 2000 shortly after an amazing "Phantasm" movie marathon in Austin, Texas (Phantasmania), another amazingly talented fan/artist/writer, Stephen Romano, launched a comic book series for "Phantasm." The artwork was astonishing, and the story line was very engaging and unique. Romano very kindly asked if I'd like to team up with him on a future issue, but I sadly had to decline (I was battling cancer at the time). For some reason, the comics stopped after the first issue. A real shame because they certainly kept the strange, mind-bending (and time bending) spirit of "Phantasm" alive.
That's all I know about "Phantasm" comics...
What I want to know is why there was never a videogame! There were two very talented fans who attempted to create games. One grafted his version onto the Doom 3 engine, and it was pretty trippy to play! The other created a gorgeous replica of various locations/sets (Jebediah's lab blew me away!). Don't know what became of these projects either. It's amazing to see what fans are capable of when they put their minds to it!
