Being that I'm a soundtrack junkie, and especially when it comes to Phantasm, I'm really curious about who will be on deck to score the new film. I'm hoping that Don will want to use someone from his usual co. and call on Brian Tyler. The trailer seemed to emphasize a lot of action, so I'd love to hear him take on the Phantasm brand.

I emailed Chris Stone, the composer of Phantasm II, III and IV after hearing the news of Phantasm: Ravager. I asked if he was returning to score the next instalment. Here is his reply:
Hi Gary,
Yes, thankfully, I am in deed composing the score to “Phantasm V” as we speak. I always look forward to doing these movies. You can’t believe how much fun it is to write this music. I must say, the late Fred Myro and truly great fried, left me with exceptionally great themes to work from. And yes, we are going to release a soundtrack album once the film has been released.
I do so greatly appreciate you taking the time to write to me. I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I enjoy writing the the music.
Thanks,
Chris
So the score will be in the hands of somebody who is truly familiar with the series and someone who I am so happy to see is on board. To me, the score by Chris Stone in the sequels truly sets the tone and atmosphere. The score to Phantasm II is one of my favourites.

Nice investigatory work. Part of me shares your relief/excitement, but part of me had been hoping for a fresh take from some new blood.
However, I'll likely listen to it on repeat just like the others, so, who am I to complain?

While re-organizing my office this past weekend I had the soundtracks playing, glad to see Chris Stone is staying on board, his previous 3 works are marvelous.

Thanks everybody. I just thought it was the most handy thing to do. I wondered who was going to be taking the reigns to the score of P5 and thought of Chris Stone, so I looked him up through Google to his website, found a contact and I emailed him and got a reply within a few hours. I'm a great fan of horror movies and the Phantasm series - which I only really became of 'Phan' of when I saw Phantasm II for the first time in 2009. By this time I had seen the original which I thought was a great classic horror film in the same vein as my favourite film, Halloween. Then years later I decided to watch the sequels and thought they were just as good and they really invigorated the series, which is owed greatly to the excellent work of Chris Stone who really opened up the themes of the score to the original Phantasm. My favourite Phantasm is Phantasm II and this is also my favourite score from the series.
Thanks again everyone!
