I was never into Horror as a genre until the summer of 1979, then I saw Phantasm and it changed everything. I saw the movie at least 2 dozen times that summer and it gave me a thirst for horror. I discovered H.P. Lovecraft and all of the assorted authors in his mythos and now 35 years later I've got a book deal for a collection of short stories, and am in the final stages of shooting that combines Lovecraft with Phantasm. All of this because of a chance discovery when the movie I wanted to see was sold out. It took 7 years to refine the story and get the funding needed to produce a proper film, not a typical indie low budget blood fest. Now we have a pro cast and a national release date on 1800 theaters in the fall of 2015, and yes the film is an homage to Phantasm.

Very interesting, ravencraft! Can you give us any more details on your project?
Also, it's always wonderful hearing about the influences Phantasm has on people! Welcome to Phantasm Community!

Sounds like fun! Details, man, details! I have similar aspirations myself, but I have wide interests and poor focus, lol.

Yeah, I'm guessing he just popped in to "plug his movie." But, if that was his plan... he might have at least mentioned what it's name is gonna be.
