What do you think about this idea:
A Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign to gather more money on PHANTASM: RAVAGER postproduction.
I know that the filming is done but there can be better visual effects, more polished color sync, orchestral score and stuff. The phans from all around the world would contribute.
Who knows - maybe even some additional scenes can be shoot?
If anyone can pass this idea to the P5's makers, please do so!

While this is certainly a viable suggestion, there's the issue of being the first truly top-shelf horror franchise to resort to crowd funding a new film. I like to think Phantasm is above that, but maybe not.
Don Coscarelli is pretty d**n shrewd when it comes to funding Phantasm sequels, so no doubt he's already considered this.

With new PHANTASM being shot on digital there's a possibility of making it:
a) look cheap, video-like, fanfilm etc. (personally I'm really worried about a shot from the trailer with Reggie scrambling through a desert on the other side of a chain link fence - it looks amateurish) b) look a real film NOW - It all depends on post. There are labs which specializes to make video looks like film.
I think that PHANTASM RAVAGER is the film we all been waiting for...for years. It's a true sequel, not a remake, not re-imagination etc. A true PHILM with Angus & Reggie and Company. Let it be the best it can be.
I'm not a rich man, but as a Phan I would be gladly part with a few hundred bucks just to make this movie look better.
Kickstarter (or better Indiegogo which doesn't have "all or nothing" policy) seems to be a cool way to transform RAVAGER from ultra low budget project to a worthy sequel.

Since the first announcement/rumors of P5 in the works, (2007/2008) I've seen so many kickstarters throughout the years and fans actually setting up accounts trying to collect $$$, none of them were successful. It has to come directly from Don. Even if someone did collect alot of money, I doubt he will take it. Don did consider this already. Honestly I think the trailer looks awesome and I doubt Don will disappoint...that's why it probably won't be released until 2015. Take your time Don.

The "Don" always finds a way to make it happen. I am sure he probably thought about the public funding route and decided to keep everything "in house". At the end of it all, I am sure what the Phans will see is that Don is the master of limited budget = awesome movie. I for one am very excited to see RaVager and experience a Phantasm that has been crafted with all of the latest and greatest tools and toys that digital film makers have at their disposal.

Well...if you analyze these unsuccessful Kickstarter projects, you'll see their makers are too optimistic/greedy. Many times they want to finance a whole movie with money from Kickstarter.
What I suggest is to set the goal low (say only 7 000 $) and name it: EXTRA VISUAL EFFECTS FOR PHANTASM: RAVAGER or EXTRA SCENE FOR PHANTASM: RAVAGER. It will gather 7k easily and then you can pump up the goal.
It's a win-win opportunity for Phans and for the makers of PHANTASM V.

I'm sure alot of phans have done this already at previous cons but whoever is going to Monsterpalooza should suggest this to Don or David Hartman in person and see what they say. Otherwise it's just not going to happen. I have no problem donating but it has to be on Don's website.

Phantasm has always been about low budger (except for P2) and that's what makes the philms so great and successful. As much as I like P2, I always liked P1 and Oblivion the best and nobody complained about those films. Look at the huge turnout for the 35th reunion. I think Ravager is going to be Phantastic. I wouldn't worry about it lookimg cheap or crappy. Don has never disappointed the fans in the past.
