KNB did effects for both films. Both films also have rapidly cut montages in them. There is even a monster quite similar to the one that pops out of Liz's back too. So, which authoritarian figure is creepier? This is perhaps John Carpenter's best film. It's very well lit.

Interesting comparisons, Vitaman. This had not occurred to me before and I've seen both films.
Now in a three-way battle to the death, who would win.... the Demon Cop, the Madness Cop or the Maniac Cop?

I like In the Mouth of Madness, but I have to go with the demon trooper from Oblivion. I just think that character feels creepier with the whole setting out in the middle of nowhere and here is this trooper .... and he is a demon ...... and he pukes yellow goo into Reg's mouth .... Just sayin', I think that was pretty awesome on the creep factor.

Well spotted! Even the shot of the road at night closely resembles ITMOM (when the bike-boy keeps going by).

I watched this movie because of this thread and discovered another Phantasm connection. Check out the poster on the wall. i.imgur.com/HsJXTZY.jpgAttachments:
