That would be a very cool cover.
I'd be happy with whatever Don and co decided to put on it. He has been pretty good to the fans thus fan so I have faith he'd give us some good stuff.

Umm, a bunch of that stuff has nothing to do with OblIVion . I'd rather a readable, or some kind of DVD-Rom to see the original Phantasm's End script.

I just saw Gopher's cover and it's way-cool. I'm all for that minmalistic piece of art being the cover of a special edition.

This is what I'd like to see. It's more of a film poster than a DVD COver but it could work.

Yeah, I think the kiss approach is the way to go (keep it simple silly), not only in some art but in everyday life. Sensory overload is a major problem...your covers are not that busy either....they're both decent.

As far as the topic of the thread, (I mentioned this on the sisiter site as well, these d**n machines make us repeat stuff over and over, like a ....machine), I would like to see a 15 - 20 minute featurette explaining how P4 finally came to be. I think the Avery script was being tossed around initially around this time, you know the ins and outs of what happened, chain of events, till P4 was written, or was it already written "sittin on the back burner"? Stuff like that, a mini story if you will.

Now for my cover art for Phantasm: OblIVion: Here's one if MGM released a Special Edition: And another if Anchor Bay got the rights and released it:

The funny thing about your first cover for Oblivion, the one that uses the original R1 MGM artwork for Phantasm... that photo of the Tall Man reflected in the sphere is actually a Phantasm: Oblivion photo!!!

This is what I'd like to see. It's more of a film poster than a DVD COver but it could work. Maybe taking the glowing letters and applying them to Gopher's approach might be the right combo.

Re: Phantasm: OblIVion Special Edition Ideas
I think the story on how the extra footage was found (I heard somewhere it was in the garbage) and used (as far as overdubbing audio, scoring, storyline incorporation vs. just use EVERYTHING found) would be cool also.
I don't know much about piecing a film together with audio, but as I was watching the scene of Mike in bed hearing the Tall Man in the wind say "Cut me down boy...".... just wondering if that line was dubbed in in 97' or if it was recorded back in 77'-78'?

I'm pretty sure Angus re-recorded many of his lines for the 1979 footage. I don't much see how Michael Baldwin could've re-recorded his though being twenty years older.
