The hour is nigh. What does everyone think? Personally, I'm excited, but apprehensive.

I think it will be an enjoyable film.
My biggest concerns are:
1. Wrapping up the story convincingly.
2. Explaining James Legros in P2 in some kind of way (doubtful).
3. CGI. Will it hold up? Some of the trailer images (silver sphere destroying a city block) in red/infrared view looks like a video game (graphics). I wonder is that in the film or just a part of the trailer.
4. CGI. Also, will the red planet look convincing?
Other than those concerns, it appears this will be enjoyable, full of action and something fans have been wanting for 15 years.

I'm definitely looking forward to it but honestly my expectations are pretty low at this point. From everything I've seen, the fact that Coscarelli didn't direct, and just the look of it, doesn't seem like it will be one of the better entries. Oblivion gave us such a great ending, I think this is going to feel like an unnecessary afterthought. I just don't think they had the budget to pull off what they wanted to do convincingly. The dialogue seems weak too. I get that it's just a trailer but if it weren't a Phantasm film, I doubt this is something I'd care to watch. I hope I'm wrong and that I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality and either way it's a treat to get one last adventure with this cast.

Saw it. Terrible. After it ended I felt empty. the series should have ended with part 4. to answer pharrout's questions. 1. No. 2. No. 3. No. 4. No.

Have to say it exceeded my expectations. I think we all knew the budget would be tiny so the CGI issues didn't bother me. I was far more worried that the story would be terrible but it wasn't. In fact it was very clever. And it got me emotionally invested. I thought it tied everything up far more coherently than 4 (that's neither a criticism of 4 or a praise of 5, it just made more sense to me personally) and I expect I'll watch this one a lot more than I would have expected...
