How exactly can you find out if your dvd is region free? the dvd or the player ? in case of the player unless you specifically buy a region free player or enter some code to make it region free, it will be region 1 if bought in the States. if you are talking a dvd drive/pc, then go to my computer and right click on your drive and go from there. the info is in there and how many changes are left as a drive can only be changed about 5 times. these two freeware programs is what i use to back up my dvd's so i can preserve the original ones. with these i find out what region the disc etc. there probably is a easier way. www.dvdshrink.org/www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/last but not least this page has a lot of info on backing dvd's up. www.doom9.org/"DISCLAIMER" keyword is "back up" as i am not promoting any piracy but believe as a consumer i have the right to preserve/protect any dvd/cd i buy
