I've been wanting to get down to the theater, but haven't had the time (thanks to college). I'm still gonna go see it, I was just curious as to what you guys thought of it.
**please NO spoilers!!!**

I saw it a couple of nights ago, and it was AWESOME. Just stunning. Let's put it this way, it's my favorite western, and my friend agrees who considered Tombstone as his favorite until he saw 3:10. I highly, highly recommend this to ANYONE, even if you don't like westerns.

I've now viewed the film and WOW. T'was one of the finest motion pictures I've ever seen and I don't declare things like that lightly. A must-see.

I haven't been a big fan of modern Western movies. but based on Dustin and gopherinheat's comments I'm interested in checking it out. My all time favorite western is John Ford's "The Searchers" This is in my opinion, John Wayne's best western and if I recall correctly a personal favorite of his.

Really enjoyed 3:10 but I would still place tombstone above it. Other good films to check out in the genre are Once Upon a Time in the West, Fistful of Dollars, the Good the Bad and the Ugly, High plains Drifter, Pale Rider, and the highly influential Rio Bravo. By the way Rio Bravo was the inspiration for Assault on Precinct 13 (Carpenter's Version).

Oh I am such a fan of Rio Bravo and The Searchers! Do you know who else is a big John Ford/Western fan? Angus Scrimm. Back when he wrote for Cinema Magazine, he published a negative review on Ford's final film because it featured a mostly female cast. He was dismayed that Ford, a man's man director, was working with a female cast for his swan song. Angus now regrets publishing that review because he knows Ford very likely read it and because he sees the film differently now. The guy was apparently a big fan of Cinema Magazine. Just a little Angus tidbit there.

I don't really have a desire to see it. I haven't seen the original either. I'm sure they're both great movies, they just aren't something I'm interested in.
I'm not much of a western fan. I do like the ridiculous Young Guns movies though....& Back to the Future Part III, which is sort of a western amongst other things. ;D
