I might have to get that since it also includes a restored B&W version. Plan 9 is great. ;D

I love MST3k and have been collecting those for some time. One thing I could never figure out is why they "spaced" Joel and went with Mike. I much prefer the early Joel MST3k to the later ones. The invention exchanges were hilarious. When they got rid of Dr. F and replaced him with Pearl (who's supposed to be his mother? Hard for me to swallow that, she looks far too young) I started fast forwarding through the mid-show banter.
I always figured the switchover had something to do with MST3k's transfer from Comedy Central to the Scifi channel, and realise the quality of the jokes tended to slide from R rated ones to stuff that was less likely to be "offensive". That of course peeved me. The drug jokes all stopped completely, which really annoys...
About Plan 9. Now here's an interesting memory. In 1984 I went to a show in Berkeley - this would be before the days of MST3k of course - where a troupe of players went onstage, hid behind the curtain, and the theatre showed the film with the sound turned off and the troupe basically MSTed the whole film, live! I was in stitches. There's that one scene where the guy's got a big white button in his hand and you hear this voice saying "Here, I have a Quaalude", I just about fell out of my chair (and not from quaalude ingestion, as those had pretty much vanished by the 80s.)
I think the troupe went on later to do Rocky Horror stuff - yawn.

The Reason Joel got "Spaced" is because Joel H. wanted to leave the show. Also the same reason Dr. F left the show was because Trace B. who played him wanted to go on to do other things.
Also i think the show got better with Mike in it I'll admit though that the things inbetween the movie got a little dumb but the comments in the movie got better and faster.
