OK i have this dvd/vcr thing and I can transfer vhs over to dvdr's. I am not good at this yet and I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to erase certain things you've put on the dvdr but not the entire dvdr ?

I have a program called Nero StartSmart, and has an option to erase a CD, but I don't know if it'll work for DVDRs.

What's the model? I have a RCA DRC832ON. On mine I can erase selected titles before finalizing the disk. Are you using a VHS to DVD autodub feature. I'll help you if I can.

Once you write something to a DVD-R, it's there forever and as far as I've known, nothing will change that.
If altering your digital video media is something you're interested in, perhaps switch over to DVD-RW (re-writable)? That way you can forever add and remove to the same discs.
Hope this helps.

You're right Dustin. I have the option of deleting titles only with the DVD-RW with DVD-R its a one shot recording only. 4Barrelhemi, just don't get rid of the VHS until you are positively sure the media is preserved. I would still hang on to the VHS original at any rate, even stuff taped from the TV.

Aha I just figured out one thing that is wrong. These aren't DVD-RW I usually get those but I guess I didn't look at the label right.
Anyways here is the other problem I have been taping these Godzilla movies from the Fearnet channel onto a VHS and then recoding them onto these dvdr's (which should have been dvdrw's) either way I'm not sure how to erase certain things.
For example: If I fell asleep recoding a 6 hour vhs onto a 6 hour dvdrw I'm not sure how to go back in and seperate the movies into chapters where each will start at the begining of the movie.
Otherwise I have to stay awake and record the movies one by one and stop when each is over. I also don't know how to use the dubbing feature and have been afraid to really try it.
The model I have is a RCA something lol

There should be a function for setting chapters. I really haven't messed with it as much as I should by now, but I having been setting chapters for every 15 minutes. The best way is to use a rewritable DVD, tape some shows/movies you don't care about, mess around and practice.
